Protests and counter-protests over voter List fraud row in Thrissur
Thrissur
Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers on Tuesday staged a protest march to the office of Union Minister Suresh Gopi in Thrissur, amid the escalating controversy over alleged voter list fraud. Demonstrators poured black oil on the office signboard, while one protester attempted to garland it with chappals.
The police took the protester into custody, but CPI(M) workers allegedly intervened and freed him.
In a counter-move, Bharatiya Janata Party workers held a rally in the city condemning the attack on Mr. Gopi's office, marking a day of tense political face-offs in Thrissur.
