2025 Nissan X-Trail: Price cuts for popular mid-size SUV
Nissan has slashed prices across its X-Trail lineup by up to $3000 from today (July 1, 2025). The Japanese auto brand says the move aims to celebrate the X-Trail nameplate's 23rd year on the Australian market. Nissan has applied the smallest discounts to the flagship petrol variants, the all-wheel drive Ti and Ti-L, which have seen their manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRPs) cut by $1000. The largest price cuts have been made to the ST-L e-Power, as well as all front-wheel drive petrol variants bar the entry-level ST. A detailed price comparison table can be viewed further down. Hundreds of new car deals are available through CarExpert right now. Get the experts on your side and score a great deal. Browse now. Nissan notes the listed price cuts have been made to MSRPs and doesn't include statutory on-road (drive-away) costs, which continue to vary depending on the state and territory. Petrol-powered X-Trails continue to be offered with either five seats or seven seats, depending on the variant. These are powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which has been replaced in some overseas markets by a turbo-petrol 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine. e-Power variants continue to be offered exclusively with a five-seat layout and all-wheel drive in Australia, and remain powered by a turbo-petrol 1.5-litre three-cylinder – however, in these hybrid variants it serves as a generator and doesn't power the wheels directly. The entire X-Trail range is backed by Nissan Australia's 10-year, 300,000km warranty, though you only get the full coverage if you continue to take your vehicle to a Nissan dealership for scheduled servicing. Otherwise, it's a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty. The first (T30) generation of X-Trail arrived in Australia in October 2001, belatedly giving Nissan a rival to the increasingly popular Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, which had been on sale here since 1997 and 1994, respectively. It was related mechanically to the Pulsar sedan, but featured a boxy body and a part-time four-wheel drive system. The second (T31) generation arrived in 2007, bringing a new platform, a more sophisticated four-wheel drive system and, after a delay, front-wheel drive and diesel variants. However, its styling was evolutionary. 2014 brought the third (T32) generation, with completely different styling and larger dimensions. This stuck around until late in 2022, when the current T33 generation belatedly arrived; its North American Rogue cousin had been around since 2020. Above: The T30, T31 and T32 generations of X-Trail While we missed out on the hybrid version of the T32 X-Trail, Australians finally received access to an electrified powertrain option in the form of the e-Power in 2023. X-Trail sales in Australia reached their zenith in 2018, when 21,192 examples of the mid-size SUV were delivered. While sales continued to drop off for the rest of the third-generation model's run, they've been climbing since the launch of the current model. Last year, Nissan delivered 17,494 examples, up 36 per cent on the previous year. That saw the X-Trail outsell every model in its segment apart from the RAV4 (58,718), Mazda CX-5 (22,835), Kia Sportage (22,210), Hyundai Tucson (19,061), and its Mitsubishi Outlander twin-under-the-skin (27,613). However, in the first five months of this year, X-Trail sales have declined by 10 per cent. That's in contrast with its Japanese and Korean rivals, which have posted modest year-over-year increases (RAV4, CX-5) or similar declines (Outlander, Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V). The real growth machines in this segment come from Chinese brands, with the MG HS up by 24.9 per cent year-to-date and the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro soaring by 66.4 per cent.

The New Lilo & Stitch Explores A Longtime Theory Fans Had About Nani, And Both The Actress And I Are Fired Up About Learning More
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. SPOILERS lie ahead for Lilo & Stitch. There's been a lot of internet chatter lately about live-action Disney movie remakes, especially regarding how they differ from their OG counterparts. That's certainly been the case for Lilo & Stitch. As I noted in my Lilo & Stitch review, given I'm someone who grew up at the exact right time when the 2002 animated original came out, I knew the remake had a high bar to clear. And, while I think some fans have a good point about how Nani's arc differs from the original, I also want to talk about how the new movie explored a long-running fan theory about her. In the original Lilo & Stitch, 18-year-old Nani is doing the best she can, working service jobs and trying to support Lilo however possible following the deaths of their parents. It's heavily suggested that there's a history involving social workers that have given the sisters a bad rep, and Lilo is very close to being turned over to the state. Over the years, eagle-eyed fans also noticed that in Nani's room, there are a ton of surfing trophies on her dresser. You can see them in the image above. Throughout the two decades leading up to the live-action movie, fans have been discussing how perhaps Nani was a really good surfer who competed and perhaps even had a promising career in the sport before the death of their parents. When CinemaBlend spoke to the original Nani voice actress Tia Carerre about the theory in 2022, she said it was 'never discussed.' However, she talked about how the character having a 'difficult time' is evident in her relationship with Lilo throughout the movie because 'she's a mother figure' but 'still just a young girl herself.' We've never known for sure if Nani did give up her dreams for Lilo before, but the live-action Lilo & Stitch does delve into this for the first time. In the 2025 movie release, viewers are clued into more of Nani's perspective, who like many girls her age, aspires to go to college and has her own dreams. Of course, she didn't plan to be Lilo's surrogate mother, but she's suddenly thrust into the role. Also, we also learn that she's so good at surfing that she can teach it! It doesn't fully make the theory canon, (especially the career part), but it definitely leans into Nani's ability to surf more than the original. Plus, in one notable change, she, rather than David, saves Stitch from drowning. And, when I asked Agudong about building upon the character she said this: I think to be able to like just in general kind of create more of that nuance and dive deeper into Nani's arc and backstory and like our struggle and stuff. And, we got to do a lot of the water training before production and I got to do a lot of the stunts and it was really cool to kind of build more of Nani's life in real time too, as far as that goes, which was incredible. She's such a strong, independent girl, and she really is like doing her best to try to keep the family together. I think it's a little odd that she decides to go to UC San Diego for a marine biology degree when she already lives in beautiful Hawaii. However, the new Lilo & Stitch film does allow room for Nani to have her own aspirations for herself outside of caring for Lilo. And, thanks to alien technology, it seems like she's hanging out with Lilo literally all the time with the portal ray gun. Disney+: from $9.99 a month w/ ad-supported planStream the original Lilo & Stitch movie now using a Disney+ subscription. The ad-supported plan starts at $9.99 a month. You can also go ad-free and pay $15.99 a month. There's also the ability to save 16% by pre-paying $159.99 for a Deal All the while, Lilo is officially being taken care of Tutu, who one producer told us was added to the film on account of Hawaii screenwriter Chris Bright feeling like Nani and Lilo wouldn't really be so alone in a real-life Hawaiian community. I totally see where some people are disappointed with Nani changing her path for the live-action movie because by the end the sister's are basically torn apart after all. Yet, at the same time, both Sydney Agudong and I are pleased that Nani's backstory was strengthened for the 2025 version more than before. On that note, check out Lilo & Stitch in theaters now!

2025 Nissan Patrol Warrior Review
If you've been on the edge about whether to buy a Nissan Patrol, now is the time. Like, literally, get your order in, because this is the best this generation has ever been, and it will be gone before you know it. That's because there's a new-generation Y63 Patrol coming, which will get a more advanced and efficient six-cylinder engine and a completely redone interior. Heart of a Warrior The charm of this model is its terrific 5.6-litre petrol V8 engine, which will continue on until the bell tolls in 2026, and it finally scores an interior deserving of its $100,000 price tag. There are three versions of the Patrol – the Ti, from about $99,000 drive-away, the Ti-L with a few more luxury items at roughly $111,000 drive-away, and the Warrior by Premcar, which is the most hardcore version (and the one to pick!) at nearly $115,000 drive-away. Choose the Ti or Warrior, you get eight seats (2+3+3), while the Ti-L has a seven-seat design (2+3+2). Fresh tech helps the cause All of them have seen a revised interior that includes a better, factory-fit 12.3-inch touchscreen media system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and that system includes sat nav and has a new rotary dial media controller too. It's been offered in other markets, but Australia has been low on the list for it – but it sees the reintroduction of a surround-view camera with forward view mode for off-roading, which was removed as part of the last, less successful, interior update. The new dash also gets a wireless phone charger, and there has been a rethink of the positioning of some controls, while the driver gets a new 7.0-inch digital instrument display that offers much better usability than the last version, incorporating a digital speedo, tyre pressure monitoring, off-road angles (pitch and yaw) and a compass, too. Along with some revisions to the interior trim, the Ti and Ti-L models feel a lot less like a 1970s golf club, but it's hardly cutting edge cabin treatment. Practicality-wise, it nails the brief with enough space for adults in all three rows of seats, and a big boot area as well. Just a shame the rear seats don't have electric foldability, as it's a loooong reach (or walk around to the door) to shift them. The drive experience hasn't changed, and that's whether you're talking on- or off-road. It's a monster on dirt But as has been the case since Nissan launched the fettled Warrior model, the off-road-focused flagship offering is the best of both worlds. Premcar's mods include a 50mm lift kit, 34-inch Yokohama all-terrain tyres, recovery hooks, and in combination with revised suspension, better clearance, more off-roadability and a wider track, it feels like the Warrior is ready for whatever you can throw at it. We threw it around some country road corners and while it's no masterpiece in dynamic prowess, it has a soft and comfortable ride with predictable driveability. The Warrior also scores a side-exit exhaust, and the pipes make the V8 engine sing. You won't be able to get enough of the soundtrack. Off-road? It's a beast. Low-range and a few different off-road modes ensure you'll be able to churn up the sand or crawl up craggy hillsides, and it can deal with deep water crossings and muddy surfaces easily. It's thirsty The biggest concern for potential customers will be fuel consumption. It averages 14.4L/100km on the official numbers, but I saw 16.2L/100km across a mix of driving. And the preference is 98RON premium unleaded for its 140-litre tank. Yeesh, that's gonna be a pricey refill every week or two. But there's a nice sweetener for this updated Patrol (and models sold prior, provided they've been serviced with Nissan or get a check-up done if maintained elsewhere) – a conditional 10-year/300,000km warranty. If you service with Nissan (every 12 months/10,000km) you can get a decade of warranty cover, including genuine accessories fitted, and there's a 10-year roadside assistance plan too. Verdict If you can stomach the cost of the Patrol and the petrol costs don't bother you, this is the best version of the Y62 yet. Can't wait to see what the new Y63 is like! 4 stars NISSAN PATROL WARRIOR OUTPUTS: 298kW/560Nm FUEL CONSUMPTION: 14.4L/100km
