Shelter cat was giving birth when something tragic was found. ‘A lot of tears'
Animal shelter workers in Ohio are in mourning after a tough situation presented itself with a sweet cat who was brought into their care. When Tiger Lily first arrived at the Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Humane Society in Lima, she was in distress. 'A few days ago we had Tiger Lily brought to us. She was very emaciated, pale, dehydrated, and just sickly,' the shelter said in a May 27 Facebook post. 'Tiger Lily had a very noticeable ear tip which typically indicates she was spayed. Which made for bigger worries to why her abdomen was so large and pregnant like. The doctor was initially concerned about FIP. An ultrasound was performed and determined she was indeed pregnant.' And not only was she pregnant, but she was on the verge of labor. 'The doctor suspected she had several kittens in there. We took her back to the shelter to monitor her since she was due anytime,' the shelter continued. 'She started labor 24 hours later. Tiger Lily had two kittens without issue. But then nothing happened. We consulted the doctor and she was given several doses of oxytocin and still nothing.' The staff had to dig a little deeper and discovered not only complications, but something more tragic. 'So our medical staff took her back into the clinic for another consult and X-rays / ultrasound. It was determined she still had 4 kittens and THREE bullets in her spine area (suspected old injury). The doctor was baffled and worried her overall condition would make the odds of her surviving a c-section very small,' the shelter said. Their decision in the end was to euthanize Tiger Lily. 'We couldn't see putting her through that and still not make it. We discussed with the doctor and elected humane euthanasia,' the shelter said. 'The kittens were put in foster care. Tiger Lily is one of so many cases the last few days. It has been exhausting, financially stressing, and a lot of tears.' The shelter posted a video of the sweet Tiger Lily receiving pets and giving loving nuzzles before she died. 'We wanted share a small glance into what we deal with on a daily basis. We wish the outcome for Tiger Lily was different, but she is no longer suffering,' the shelter said. Lima is about 90-miles northwest from Columbus.

Tiger Lily Hutchence shows off growing pregnant belly in London after reported marriage to Ben Archer
Tiger Lily Hutchence showed off her growing baby bump as she was spotted on a walk in London on Tuesday. The singer, 28, who is expecting her first child with Ben Archer, had her blossoming pregnant belly on display during a recent outing where she appeared to enjoy the sunny weather. She looked radiant in a white summery slip dress, she paired with a pink knitted cardigan, brown sandals and carried a colourful tote bag. The 28-year-old, who is the daughter of late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence and the late British TV presenter Paula Yates, was also wearing a gold ring on her wedding finger after she reportedly wed Archer last month. The couple allegedly married in an intimate ceremony in East London in April, two years after they met in 2023. Days later, the newlyweds appeared to confirm their marriage as they wore matching gold rings on their wedding fingers in London. According to The Sun, the couple were 'keen to marry' ahead of the birth of their first child. 'Tiger Lily and Ben had a very chic, very low-key wedding on Saturday. They hired out a restaurant on Columbia Road for about 30 guests,' a source told the publication. 'Tiger Lily's sisters, Pixie and Fifi, were there, as well as Bob. The guest list was very rock 'n' roll, with Tiger Lily's godfather, Nick Cave, invited, too. 'Tiger Lily and Ben are so happy together and this ceremony was just for their closest friends and family. It was a beautiful day and, after the service, they all sat down to have a meal together.' Archer announced his partner's pregnancy last month on social media. Hutchence was just 16 months old when her dad died by suicide in a Sydney hotel room at the age of 37. Her mother overdosed on heroin at her home in Notting Hill, London, less than three years later. Yates' ex-husband Bob Geldof adopted Hutchence and raised her alongside his daughters Peaches, who sadly passed away in 2014, Pixie and Fifi Trixibelle.

Charleston flower shop holds steady on prices despite tariff impacts
JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) — One of the most popular gifts for Mother's Day – flowers – is coming at a higher cost this year due to rising tariffs. But despite those pressures, one local florist is choosing not to pass the price increases on to customers. Tiger Lily florist was buzzing with activity ahead of one of the busiest weekends of the year. Owner Lisa Holmes said the Charleston-based shop has kept its prices steady, even in the face of a roughly 30% increase in product costs. 'They're about the same,' Holmes said. 'It was our decision with the world that's going on right now that we could've increased, but we chose not to,' said Holmes. 'We chose instead to get more higher-end stems that customers were asking for like peonies, or ranunculus, and put them in there for the value that they're worth. So, that strategy worked this year.' Tiger Lily continues sourcing hand-cut, imported flowers from its vendors. 'There a lot of flowers that come from all over. For example, your Dutch product is Netherlands, Belgium, Holland – that would be tulips. Ranunculus, like I was saying before, hyacinth, which smells so amazing, that come from those areas. Your roses are from Ecuador, primarily South America,' Holmes said. The shop also partners with local growers for peonies, daffodils and seasonal accents. In anticipation of ongoing economic uncertainty, Holmes said the business stocked up on floral supplies such as vases and containers. 'We did purchase additional storage facilities and purchased what we call hard goods — which are things like vases etc. We have filled those to the brim with the unknown.' Holmes said the decision to maintain quality and affordability was rooted in a commitment to customers and the store's long-standing reputation. 'The way that I look at it is nothing is permanent. We will all get through this and what we're doing is just taking less profit and we're alright with that. We have a reputation; we're going to uphold it and just be positive. So, it's what we went with,' she said. Tiger Lily sold out of both its most affordable and most luxurious arrangements this Mother's Day season. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
