Rachel Gupta cries, shares truth about Miss Grand International: 'Made to sell cheap products on TikTok like salesgirl'
Rachel Gupta, the 21-year-old winner of Miss Grand International 2024, has been at the centre of controversy after announcing her resignation from the title. On May 28, Rachel took to Instagram to share that she's stepping down due to a 'toxic environment and repeated unkept promises' during her reign as Miss Grand International 2024. On May 29, she took to her YouTube channel to share a video of herself, which she titled 'The Truth about Miss Grand International - My Story'. Also read | Rachel Gupta returns Miss Grand International 2024 crown, alleges mistreatment; organisation says she was terminated While Miss Grand International Organisation has a different version of events and said that Rachel Gupta was officially terminated from her position, in the video, Rachel, narrated her experience over the past 7 months. From being made to lived in 'cramped' Thai hotel room for 1 month after her win and then being 'locked in a house all day long' with no food or basic amenities to being 'hounded about her weight all the time', Rachel made serious allegations against the Miss Grand International organisers. She said, 'Frankly they don't care if I live or die. As long as I'm there to smile at their events, as long as I keep my body super skinny, the way they like, they don't care if I live or die. They just want me to be there, to go on TikTok Live and make money for them and show up at their events. That's it, that's all they want from me... I realised they would never, never support me, and I was completely on my own... they made us sell. You guys know they made us sell these cheap, tacky products on TikTok like we were salesgirls. You've crowned queens, girls who have careers in our country, we do things, we're well respected, and they're making us sell cheap products on TikTok because it makes them money and you can't say no.' A post shared by Rachel Gupta (@_rachelgupta) Rachel also slammed the organisation for promoting unrealistic beauty standards and body shaming her, which led to her low self-esteem and mental health issues. She said she had to buy herself food and struggled with taking care of her health and fitness. She said, 'I asked them I need access to a gym because obviously, you have to keep taking care of yourself, like that's the job,. But they didn't arrange that for me. I had to beg and beg for them to give me a yoga mat... at the same time they were hounding me and constantly talking about my weight and my body all the time. I remember one time, they sent their representative to me and he just comes up to me and he starts pinching me in different places and he's like 'Oh you need to lose weight here, you need to lose weight here'. What am I supposed to say to that? It's so embarrassing. It makes you feel so small and so bad. I understand, obviously I have to stay fit for the job I have, and stay in shape, but it's so difficult when you don't have access to anything and you're just locked in a house, basically all day long.' In the video, Rachel also said that countries could pay for votes during Miss Grand International 2024 pageant, and the organisation accepted these payments, creating unfair competition. She also expressed concerns about the organisation's handling of serious issues, including a case of sexual harassment reported by a former titleholder. She wrote in her YouTube caption, 'It's taken a lot of courage to speak so openly and honestly, but I truly hope this helps girls who share the dream I once had. While my story may polarize you, I urge you to keep the focus on the issues that matter. I have screenshots and receipts for everything, but am not willing to stoop to that level. People who believe me will do so regardless of proof. It is not easy to give back what you fought so hard to achieve but my decision to step down is based on integrity and self-respect. Thank you for listening to me and supporting me.' The 21-year-old model from Jalandhar was crowned Miss Grand International 2024 last year, becoming the first Indian to win the title.

MCMC probes viral TikTok Live showing Jalur Gemilang stepped on
The TikTok Live video has been online for more than four hours. PETALING JAYA : Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil has instructed the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to look into a TikTok Live video in which people were seen stepping on the Jalur Gemilang. It is understood the video, which is being streamed from Sri Lanka and has been online for more than four hours, is part of a cyberwar between cyberbullies in Malaysia and Sri Lanka. 'This is too much. I have alerted MCMC,' Fahmi told FMT. MCMC's chief network security officer, Sulaiman Sultan Suhaibuddeen, said it is investigating the video and working to restrict access to the live broadcast. 'We are monitoring this and have contacted TikTok,' he told FMT. The Global Human Rights Federation (GHRF), which brought the video to FMT's attention, said tensions erupted after Malaysian and Sri Lankan users exchanged racist remarks, shared religiously offensive content, and targeted women during a widely viewed livestream. According to GHRF, the incident began when a Sri Lankan national residing in Kuwait was seen burning the Malaysian flag during a live TikTok session hosted through a fake account. The session, viewed by about 300 users, quickly descended into hate speech, obscenities, and the mocking of Malaysian viewers who attempted to call out the behaviour, said a GHRF representative. GHRF said the origin of the cyberwar can be traced to the previous day, when a Malaysian TikTok user allegedly uploaded photos of Sri Lankan women, including private or random images, in what appeared to be an act of public shaming or trolling. In retaliation, Sri Lankan users targeted Malaysian women by posting random images alongside sexual threats, vulgar comments, and other forms of harassment. Despite hundreds of live viewers reporting the livestream, TikTok responded with automated moderation messages stating that 'no community guideline violations were found,' GHRF said. 'This is not just 'social media drama', it is a human rights and national security issue.'

Viral video sparks attack at guard post over TikTok live remarks
SUNGAI BULOH: A 47-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a group of individuals at a guard post in Bandar Seri Coalfields after his remarks during a TikTok Live session went viral and sparked outrage. The incident, captured in two widely circulated video clips, took place at the security booth along Jalan BSC 4B/4 in the early hours of May 25. The videos, which surfaced on social media, showed chaotic moments as several men confronted and attacked the victim. Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said preliminary checks indicated that the attack stemmed from dissatisfaction over the victim's comments made during a TikTok live broadcast. "In the video, the man had reportedly advised the public, without naming anyone, to avoid fights, not behave like gangsters, and to engage in civil political discourse without provocation," he said. "These statements are believed to have offended certain parties, leading to a provocative and physical retaliation against the complainant at his residence," said Hafiz in a statement. Police confirmed receiving a report at Saujana Utama station from the victim shortly after the incident, which occurred around 12.57am. Hafiz said the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries a maximum sentence of two years' imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction. Authorities have also urged the public not to circulate the video further to avoid speculation that could compromise the ongoing investigation or cause unnecessary alarm. "Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to come forward to the nearest police station or contact the investigating officer Inspector Azraai Mohamad Amin, at 018-9696941," Supt Mohd Hafiz added.

In one post, Lizzo lip-synced to Pluto and YK Niece's track 'WHIM WHAMIEE,' featuring the lyrics, 'I've been fat, I've been skinny / B------ still ain't f------ with me.' In the other, she wrote, 'YITTY GRRRL SUMMER HAS BEGUN 😈,' showing off Yitty's swim triangle bikini top in yellow and cobalt shimmer styles. Lizzo's swimsuit showcase also highlighted the continued results of her health journey. In January 2025, she revealed she had lowered her body mass index by 10.5 and reduced her body fat by 16%. In a TikTok Live from April, she spoke candidly about her approach, emphasizing a mindful relationship with food and physical activity. 'I avoid sugary stuff in the morning and opt for something savory, like almond butter and toast,' she shared. 'Everybody's body is different. Find what works for you.' Lizzo also noted that the principle of 'calories in versus calories out' remains a consistent scientific foundation for weight management. Back in March 2024, Lizzo told The New York Times that she aims to be methodical and consistent with her routine. 'There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing Pilates,' she said. Addressing critics of her transformation, she firmly stated, 'My body is nobody's business.' With her confident posts and unfiltered commentary, Lizzo continues to advocate for self-love while redefining beauty standards on her own terms.

Lucy Haughey, 44, went on TikTok Live and made vile comments about Kevin Keegan on December 30 2023. A Scots 'Come Dine With Me' winner who posted a sick video about her dead former partner online was fined £450 on Wednesday. Lucy Haughey, 44, went on TikTok Live and made negative comments about Kevin Keegan on December 30 2023. The mum - who won the hit Channel 4 show in 2017 - pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner. Haughey hit the headlines eight years ago after she had sex with a 15-year-old boy and was given a three-year community payback order. Her previous convictions also include stalking social worker Shannon Low in 2017 and was sentenced to community service. Haughey posted a video on social media about Miss Low in 2022 which included abusive comments. She was banned from contacting Miss Low for 10 years. Haughey was found guilty last year of racially abusing her former neighbour Roman Kavur and was fined £420.
