TikTok 'content check' tells creators if their videos will be blocked from For You pages

TikTok's "For You" recommendations have long been a source of mystery and fascination for creators on the platform. Even the most seasoned TikTok stars don't always understand why some videos go viral and some don't. And there's long been lots of speculation about the types of content that is and isn't acceptable to the app's recommendation algorithm. Now, the company is looking to give creators more transparency into its recommendations. TikTok is testing out a "content check" feature that will allow creators to preview whether their videos have issues that might prevent them from appearing in the coveted "For You" feed. TikTok is kicking it off with a web-based feature called "Content Check Lite" that will be available on desktop in TikTok Studio. The feature will check uploaded videos for "For You" eligibility and flag potential issues before posting. The company also says it's in the "early stages" of experimenting with a "broader" content check feature that can check "content against all our Community Guidelines before it goes live on platform," and offer specific feedback on changes that can help correct ineligible content. A "small group" of creators are currently part of the test, according to the company. TikTok has already tested a version of this for TikTok Shop sellers, and says the feature has already resulted in a 27 percent reduction in "low-quality uploads" to the app. The feature could also help the company increase trust with creators, who often speculate about "shadow bans" and why some videos don't get as many views as they expect. "Ultimately, our goal is to help creators understand our rules and make sure that they can know how best to build that audience and build that thriving following on TikTok," TikTok's head of operations and trust and safety, Adam Presser, said during a press event. "We're excited to learn from the pilot, and hope to have more to share ahead in the next few months." The company is also adding several other updates for creators, including new muting and filtering controls that make it easier to weed out specific terms from comments in live streams and other posts. The app is also getting a designated "creator inbox" to make it easier to manage messaging in the app. Creators who want to have a separate space to interact with followers will also be able to take advantage of "creator chat rooms," which allows eligible accounts to make a dedicated space for chats with up to 300 followers.

Love Island's Toni avoids villa-loved lash extensions thanks to £30 eyelash growth serum

Love Island's Toni Laites has opted against lash extensions like her fellow islanders, as she reaches for this TikTok viral eyelash growth serum to get fuller and healthier-looking lashes instead It's no secret that the Love Island girls love a good lash extension to get those fuller, fluffier lashes we all crave. But they may not be the best option for those of us not heading onto a reality TV, whether it's because of their high maintenance, equally high price tags, or the long-lasting effects they can have on your natural lashes. But, Love Island favourite, Tony Laites, who has skipped out on lash extensions, may have a cost-effective and cult-favourite solution to getting that false lash look with natural lashes. Joining the hordes of beauty buffs already obsessed with this TikTok viral product, Toni was recently spotted using the Glow For It Lash Growth Serum, which has been praised for its noticeable results at transforming even the sparsest of lashes into an extension-like look. What's more, this viral cult classic best-seller from TikTok Shop is now available to buy directly from Glow For I t or from Boots, where it's making waves with Boots' beauty lovers, as the Glow For It Lash Growth Serum has amassed plenty of five-star reviews. You've probably spotted this serum popping up on your For You Page if you're constantly hunting for beauty essentials on TikTok. It created quite a buzz amongst beauty enthusiasts for its simple application, wallet-friendly cost, and ability to help lashes grow quicker and fuller. The Glow For It Lash Growth Serum is a vegan, prostaglandin-analogue-free formula crafted to deliver healthier, thicker, fuller, longer lashes. The peptide-infused serum aims to nourish and stimulate the lash follicle for noticeable results without the adverse effects of prostaglandin analogues. The Glow For It Lash Growth Serum is also Vegan Society and Leaping Bunny Approved and clinically tested to be gentle and safe for the skin, making it an obvious choice for those keen to achieve those coveted lashes without using damaging ingredients. It functions easily and conveniently for impressive results; simply apply a fine layer of the serum to your lashline and the lashes-it can be used on both the top and bottom lashes. Ideal for incorporating into your regular skincare routine or using before bedtime to ensure maximum absorption whilst you're sleeping. Priced at £30, shoppers have flocked to praise this lash serum with five-star reviews. One reviewer gushes: "I have been using this lash serum for the last year, and I can confidently say it's the best I have ever tried. I could not recommend it enough!" More acclaim comes from this fan who gushes: "I bought a few months ago off their own website, the results are incredible and would definitely buy again. Recommend if you want thicker, healthier, and longer lashes! Also doesn't contain those horrible nasties!!" Further praise comes from this buyer who raves: "I've tried many lash serums over the past few years and this is the only one that hasn't darkened my skin where applied. I'm so pleased Boots has decided to stock it." Another adds: "Genuinely the best Lash Serum on the market! Amazing founder & brand too. So happy they are in Boots!" And a fifth shares their experience, writing: " I cannot thank this lash serum and brand enough for the enhancement, growth and overall progress I have seen in my lashes since picking up my first bottle last June. I used to wear lash extensions, which I felt ruined my lashes and almost pushed my lashes downwards with the weight of them, but decided to give this a try after seeing lots of amazing results from other users, and I'm so happy I took the leap! The girl who does my LVLs always compliments how much thicker and longer my lashes look, and it really shows after I've had my LVL done, or when I apply mascara in general. My lash girl is now recommending this to all of her clients! Just 5 stars all around, and I won't be without it!"

I'm a single mum & glammed up my council flat for just £66… I don't even have to pay for it yet & it's great for renters

A SINGLE mother has given her kitchen a quick and easy makeover, without breaking the bank. So if you want to add style to your space and are on a tight budget, then you won't want to miss this. 2 2 Cynthia, who regularly shares 'smart, helpful finds online,' recently revealed how she transformed her kitchen, whilst spreading the cost. Posting on social media, the blonde beauty gave her followers a close-up look at her yellow kitchen tiles, prior to her DIY overhaul. Using stick-on tiles from TikTok Shop, Cynthia was able to brighten up her pad, whilst sticking to a tight budget. And those strapped for cash will be stunned to know that this bargain hunter's transformation is costing her just £66 in total - and she is able to spread the cost over three months. Cynthia confirmed that she is using Klarna, the 'buy now, pay later' service provider, to pay off her purse-friendly purchase. Not only did Cynthia show off her affordable marble-esque kitchen tiles and her new grey flooring, both of which is costing her £22 a month, but she also addressed the 'biggest misconception' many people have about those who live in council properties - that they 'don't have to pay rent and council tax.' To this, the mother clapped back and wrote: 'THAT IS NOT TRUE, we have to pay rent and council tax just like everyone else.' Cynthia then added: 'As a lone parent, I find it difficult lately, however, we still want to improve our home. 'I'm not embarrassed to tell you that these wall stickers, along with the sticky flooring from my previous video I bought off TikTok Shop, cost me £22 a month for three months. 'I think these stickers make such a huge difference, what do you think?' Trolls say council houses can't look nice but my stunning hallway will prove them wrong Showing off her tile stickers, which Cynthia described as 'addictive,' she expressed: 'Cheap, renter-friendly and actually make my kitchen feel brand new - no builder needed.' The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ simplifywithcynthia, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 151,300 views, 1,378 likes and 128 comments. Rules on transforming your council house According to Gov, the kind of improvements you can make to your council property depends on the type of tenancy you have. Introductory tenants are usually limited to minor improvements like redecorating inside. If you're a secure tenant, you have the right to carry out improvements to your property. These include: installing a new bathroom or kitchen building an extension putting up a garden shed or greenhouse installing a new gas fire or fireplace cavity wall insulation redecorating the outside of a house fitting an aerial or satellite dish You might need your council's written permission for work you do. Contact your council if you're not sure. DIY fans were gobsmacked by Cynthia's kitchen overhaul and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this. One person said: 'Looks great.' Another added: 'You did this so neatly and perfectly!' A third commented: 'Amazing job. You're a great inspiration.' Meanwhile, someone else asked: 'Did they stay on ok?' In response, Cynthia wrote back and confirmed: 'I've done it quite a while ago and they're brilliant. "By the cooker too, so much easier to clean.'

I lost 9st on Mounjaro but was losing hair in clumps – I found a surprising solution that stylists don't usually suggest

A MUM who lost a staggering nine stone on a weight-loss jab says her hair started falling out in clumps, until she found an unlikely solution that most stylists would never recommend. TikToker Kelsey, known to her followers as @kelseymounjaroandme, has been documenting her incredible transformation after dropping nine stone since starting on Mounjaro last August. After asking her TikTok followers for suggestions, Kelsey decided to try a mix of hair-friendly supplements alongside her extensions. Experts say she might be onto something. Advertisement Victoria Lynch, founder of ethical hair extension brand Remi Cachet and an expert in "It's not just about how you look, it's your identity. Extensions can be a lifeline for people if they're done safely and correctly.' She says that while extensions are often seen as a cosmetic luxury, they can actually help restore confidence for people dealing with hair loss, so long as the method is tailored to the client's hair health. 'You need to avoid anything too heavy or that adds tension to already fragile hair,' she explains. Lynch adds: 'The key is a proper consultation, ongoing maintenance, and gentle at-home care. Extensions aren't a cure, but they're a supportive, confidence-boosting solution.' Kelsey, for one, is thrilled she didn't wait for her hair to sort itself out. Advertisement 'My confidence is so much better,' she says. 'It's hard enough going through a massive weight loss. When your hair starts falling out, it knocks you back. But this has helped me feel like me again.' So while most stylists wouldn't usually recommend extensions for someone battling hair loss, Kelsey's bold move might just be rewriting the rulebook. Advertisement Everything you need to know about fat jabs Weight loss jabs are all the rage as studies and patient stories reveal they help people shed flab at almost unbelievable rates, as well as appearing to reduce the risk of serious diseases. Wegovy – a modified version of type 2 diabetes drug Ozempic – and Mounjaro are the leading weight loss injections used in the UK. Wegovy, real name semaglutide, has been used on the NHS for years while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a newer and more powerful addition to the market. Mounjaro accounts for most private prescriptions for weight loss and is set to join Wegovy as an NHS staple this year. How do they work? The jabs work by suppressing your appetite, making you eat less so your body burns fat for energy instead and you lose weight. They do this my mimicking a hormone called GLP-1, which signals to the brain when the stomach is full, so the drugs are officially called GLP-1 receptor agonists. They slow down digestion and increase insulin production, lowering blood sugar, which is why they were first developed to treat type 2 diabetes in which patients' sugar levels are too high. Can I get them? NHS prescriptions of weight loss drugs, mainly Wegovy and an older version called Saxenda (chemical name liraglutide), are controlled through specialist weight loss clinics. Typically a patient will have to have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, classifying them as medically obese, and also have a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure. GPs generally do not prescribe the drugs for weight loss. Private prescribers offer the jabs, most commonly Mounjaro, to anyone who is obese (BMI of 30+) or overweight (BMI 25-30) with a weight-related health risk. Private pharmacies have been rapped for handing them out too easily and video calls or face-to-face appointments are now mandatory to check a patient is being truthful about their size and health. Are there any risks? Yes – side effects are common but most are relatively mild. Around half of people taking the drug experience gut issues, including sickness, bloating, acid reflux, constipation and diarrhoea. Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical consultant at said: 'One of the more uncommon side effects is severe acute pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and happens to one in 500 people.' Other uncommon side effects include altered taste, kidney problems, allergic reactions, gallbladder problems and hypoglycemia. Evidence has so far been inconclusive about whether the injections are damaging to patients' mental health. Figures obtained by The Sun show that, up to January 2025, 85 patient deaths in the UK were suspected to be linked to the medicines. Mounjaro Hair loss Many GLP-1 patients might notice hair loss as a common side-effect. The jab itself isn't to blame, it's the vitamin deficiencies caused by extreme calorie cutting while on the injection that can wreak havoc on your scalp. Trichologist Samantha Stewart explains: 'We're seeing patients experiencing hair loss which we conclude to be due to their extreme calorie deficit caused by the injections.' As your body drops weight fast, it can fall short of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and B vitamins which are key building blocks for strong, healthy hair. Advertisement Without them, hair follicles are pushed into a resting phase too early, causing excessive shedding and slow regrowth - a condition known as Telogen Effluvium. Samantha added: 'Those who have been on crash diets often experience reflective shedding. "It's the result of the body lacking the resources to maintain hair health.' And the effects can be emotionally devastating. Advertisement The Hair Gain Capsules are packed with nutrients like biotin, zinc and organic pea shoot extract, are now being recommended by hair pros to tackle the sudden shedding linked to rapid weight loss from jabs like Mounjaro. Meanwhile, a young woman has taken to social media to share how she got her hair growing back in just a few months using a bizarre ingredient. Elsewhere, Moniquem Rapier, who struggled with bald patches and hair loss, has revealed a Advertisement Hair Loss 101 HAIR pro Why Does Hair Loss Happen? Hair loss can be influenced by so many factors, from genetics and hormone changes to lifestyle choices. Stress, diet, and even hair care habits can all impact hair strength. It's perfectly normal to lose some hair each day, but sometimes the body can shed more than usual, responding to things like hormonal shifts or even life stressors. Why It Happens More This Time of Year Have you ever noticed your hair seems to shed more in autumn? That's seasonal shedding! During summer, we hold onto extra hair to protect our scalp from the sun. As the weather cools, it's like our body recalibrates and lets go of those extra strands. Dry, cooler air can also make hair more brittle, making it easier to lose a little extra volume during these months. Hacks and Affordable Buys to Treat Hair loss The great news? You don't need to spend a fortune on pricey treatments to support your hair. Try daily scalp massages—they're so simple but really help boost blood flow to the follicles. Castor oil is another fantastic, budget-friendly option that's rich in nutrients to strengthen your strands. Adding a bit more protein to your diet and a biotin supplement can also work wonders for overall hair health. Products to Avoid Steer clear of products with high levels of alcohol, sulphates, and parabens - they can be drying and damage hair over time. Heat styling and chemical treatments can also cause breakage, so try to use them sparingly. Instead, look for gentle, hydrating formulas to support your scalp and keep hair healthier through the seasons.
