Tacoma man found dead from fire at indoor shooting range IDed. Cause of fire undetermined
A Tacoma man who died after a fire broke out at an indoor shooting range last week has been identified, according to the Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office.
Timothy Mar, 33, died from the fire at Bull's Eye Indoor Range in the 400 block of Puyallup Avenue. His cause and manner of death are pending, the office said in a news release. That is a temporary designation used when additional investigation, information and/or test results are required for certification.
The official cause of the fire has been ruled as undetermined but is considered accidental, Tacoma Fire spokesperson Chelsea Shepherd told The News Tribune on Monday.
Shepherd said investigators were not able to determine if the fire was ignited by a failed power cable or something else.
Firefighters were dispatched that day at about 6:16 p.m. after reports that the building was on fire and people were inside, according to Tacoma Fire in an X post.
After firefighters knocked the fire down, Mar was found dead inside. One other person was injured. The injured person was taken to a local hospital, the post said.
'The fire appears to have started in a classroom area where the business kept live ammo and electrical equipment. While the exact cause of the fire is unclear, the fire appears to be unintentional,' Tacoma Fire posted on X.
Bull's Eye Indoor Range has been temporarily closed. According to its Facebook post on Monday, the shooting range will begin releasing firearms and running background checks again through appointments.
