KDays 2025 rolls out bold new food lineup featuring sweet heat, global fusions, and pickle everything

Article content It's that time of the year again. Pickle-flavoured mini doughnuts. Ramen noodle burritos. Tajin-rimmed mango soft serve. The 2025 edition of KDays is taking culinary creativity to new — and sometimes strange — heights. Article content Article content Explore Edmonton has unveiled this year's food lineup, which includes more than 35 new menu items making their debut at the popular summer fair, beginning July 18. Article content Article content The theme for 2025? Go bold, go unexpected — and make sure everyone leaves with both a full stomach and a few photos. Article content Article content 'The inspiration came from reaching a diverse sort of demographic,' said Ziyah Karmali, manager of media relations and storytelling at Explore Edmonton. 'We wanted to give Edmonton foodies and tourist foodies a reason to come experience the festival. We all know that food is a big draw.' Article content Among them is the Ice Cream Nachos, which combine soft serve ice cream with Oreo crumbs, skor bits, brownie chunks, and sweet sauces, served with kettle corn chips for scooping. Article content 'I think the Ice Cream Nachos are going to be a great hit, because everybody loves nachos, and everybody loves ice cream,' Karmali said. 'It's a good way to cool off on a hot summer day, kind of a salty-sweet mix, which is always something fun.' Article content Article content Article content Then there's the Pickle Mini Donuts, made by Tin Lizzy Old Fashioned Hot Dog Ltd., offering a sweet-and-sour twist on a midway classic. Article content Pickle flavour appears prominently across the grounds this year, including Pickle Pizza and Deep-Fried Pickled Cheese Curds. Article content The curds are the latest twist from Phillip Davis, founder of Davis Concessions. He said his team spent the entire winter developing and testing this year's lineup, which also includes Berry Fried Pop Tarts and Spicy Pickle Fries. Davis said the fried pop tarts are a throwback to childhood, while the fries build on their original pickle version with a fiery upgrade for spice lovers. Article content 'Our inspiration is always to create fresh, original, and great-tasting items for the whole family to enjoy,' Davis said. Article content
