Kota Kinabalu: Irish singer Rebecca O'Connor, one of the world's finest Tina Turner tribute artists, will hold a charity concert here in aid of the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK). The concert, themed Heart of Gold, will feature the electrifying Simply the Best – Tina Turner Tribute Show. The internationally acclaimed Rebecca has been personally endorsed by Tina Turner, who once described her performance as 'so good, it's scary.' She will perform at PCAKK's annual charity concert-cum-dinner on August 8, 2025, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here. PCAKK, led by President Datuk Dr Jaswant Singh, had discussed the programme with Kota Kinabalu City Hall Mayor, Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah, during a courtesy call at his office. The visit also served to introduce the association's new committee and to provide updates on its home care programme and upcoming activities. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting PCAKK's ongoing efforts in providing compassionate care and support for patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their families. PCAKK expressed appreciation to the Mayor for his continued support in improving palliative care services and for supporting the upcoming fundraising concert-cum-dinner. The association continues to advocate for accessible and compassionate palliative care throughout Kota Kinabalu. Also present during the meeting were City Hall Deputy Director General (Management Services) Faradillah Abd Rani, and Information Officer Nurnabilah Berhaman. The PCAKK delegation included Management Advisor Datuk Margaret Lim, Honorary Secretary Datin Noridah Yassin, Resident Medical Officer Dr Christiannie Celestinus, Executive Secretary Benzie Richard, and Committee Members Dr Mathan Mohan Rao and Caroline Paxton.
