Tinah Mnumzana grateful for Generations role - ‘Having a source of income is a blessing'
She has captivated audiences on the small screen for many years, embodying a variety of roles that have solidified her status in the entertainment industry as one of the most talented actors to ever appear on television. Seasoned actress Tinah Mnumzana, widely recognised for her role as Flora on The River, is now making her mark in Generations: The Legacy. In a significant shift, she takes on the character of Nokwazi, who struggles with alcohol consumption. This is an exciting challenge for Tinah, who doesn't touch the bottle in real life. She talks to Drum about how she delves deep into herself to be able to potray the character seamlessly. 'As an actor, I portray different characters and I attend different events where I see drunk people, so I draw from the experiences of people I know and those I don't know. Nokwazi is a single mother, who drinks for leisure. She has been around the block, so she's street smart, and knows her way around Gomorrah in Alex where she lives,' she says. Stepping into another role means that she now has a regular income, something she says she's grateful for. 'Having a source of income is a blessing, because there are many people who don't have jobs, so I thank God. I've been welcomed with warm hands at Generations, I know some actors from theatre, so it's great that we've crossed paths again,' she explains. Despite launching her acting career 37 years ago with her debut in theatre, she is steadfast in her commitment to continue performing. She has no intention of stepping away from the spotlight, expressing her desire to act until she is no longer able to do so. The likes of Mary Mhlongo and Nomtle Nkonyeni are a perfect example of what it means to act until you die. I don't plan on stopping anytime. If these women did it until death, so can I. Another woman who inspired me was Connie Chiume, she used to encourage me to stay strong and not give up despite the industry being brutal,' the Bloemfontein-born actress shares. Her mother, who was a matron and later went into politics taught Tinah a lot about the importance of education, and the fact that it has no age limit. 'My mother was appointed MEC for agriculture in the Free State, and she vowed that she wasn't going to be a stupid MEC, so she furthered her education even though she was 60, that's when I learned that education has no age limit,' she reveals. Although she has been in the industry for more than three decades, she doesn't think she's arrived, instead she believes that older actors can learn from the younger ones. Nozuko Ntshangase makes small screen comeback on 'Generations — The Legacy'
The Generations — The Legacy family has welcomed four new actors to introduce new storylines as season 34 continues. Tinah Mnumzana joins the soapie as Ausi Nokwazi Lukhozi, an impulsive and spontaneous character. 'It feels so good and beautiful at the same time to be part of the biggest production. The crew and cast are amazing and have welcomed me so warmly. Working with the likes of Manaka Ranaka (Lucy Diale) is amazing,' Tinah Mnumzama said on Thursday. Nozuko Ntshangase will be joining the show, playing the role of Vuyelwa Nxumalo, a smart, pushy character and a straight talker. 'I am so excited to join the mother of all soapies. Breathing life to the character of Vuyelwa is amazing, and I can't wait for the people to witness the magic,' Nozuko Ntshangase said. Sannah Mchunu and Philip 'Tipo' Tindisa will also be joining the show.

New faces join ‘Generations: The Legacy' as iconic characters take their final bow
Tinah Mnumzana will be joining the cast of "Generations: The Legacy" along with other popular actors. With it's 34th season under way, the show is set to welcome, Tinah Mnumzana, Nozuko Ntshangase, Phillip Tipo Tindisa and Sannah Mchunu. South Africa's long-running telenovela, " Generations: The Legacy " will welcome four new faces. Famed for her role on "Muvhango", Mnumzana will step into the role of Ausi Nokwazi Lukhozi on Monday, June 30. Characterised as impulsive and spontaneous, Ausi navigates life with a recklessness that often leaves her at the mercy of her choices. She's described as a street-smart survivor loyal to the streets, she is both talkative and fiercely opinionated, believing she's always right. "It feels so good and beautiful at the same time to be part of the biggest production. The crew and cast are amazing and have welcomed me so warmly," said Mnumzana. Viewers will also meet Ntshangase on Wednesday, July 9, who is set to portray the ambitious Vuyelwa Nxumalo. Vuyelwa is a product of privilege, having attended private school since grade one. Despite her nurturing instincts, she is fiercely determined, hoping to establish herself before the age of 30. Ntshangase shared: "I am so excited to join the mother of all soapies. Breathing life to the character of Vuyelwa is amazing and I can't wait for the people to witness the magic."

Season 34 of Generations: The Legacy welcomes four talented actors: Tinah Mnumzana, Nozuko Ntshangase, Phillip 'Tipo' Tindisa, and Sannah Mchunu. The new characters debut between June and July, bringing fresh storylines to the show, from streetwise survival to investigative journalism dreams and family complexities. Viewers can look forward to captivating performances and unique narratives. Four veteran actors are set to join the cast of SABC1's Generations: The Legacy. Tinah Mnumzana, Nozuko Ntshangase, Phillip 'Tipo' Tindisa, and Sannah Mchunu will debut on the show between June and July, introducing fresh storylines. The announcement was made by SABC1 and Morula Pictures in a statement on Thursday as the soap's 34th season continues. Tinah Mnumzana joins the award-winning soapie as Ausi Nokwazi Lukhozi, an impulsive and spontaneous character. Anything goes with her. Reckless but trying to get things together. She used to be a pretty girl but has since abused her body. Loyal to the streets, loyal to anyone who gives her money. Talkative. Opinionated. Wrong or right, she's always right. She can sell anything. Persuasive. Never take no for an answer. She ignores things she doesn't like, like she didn't hear it. She loves everyone, but it depends on what she gets from you. She's street-smart. She knows no boundaries. She can start a conversation with anyone. On joining Generations – The Legacy, Mnumzana said: 'It feels so good and beautiful at the same time to be part of the biggest production. The crew and cast are amazing and have welcomed me so warmly. Working alongside the likes of Manaka Ranaka (Lucy Diale) is amazing.' Nozuko Ntshangase joins the show, playing the role of Vuyelwa Nxumalo. Vuyelwa is smart. She is pushy and a straight talker. Private school-taught since Grade one, she has never been without opportunities. She is hard-working and wants those around her to do the same. Desperate to make it big, make a big name for herself before 30. She's empathetic but tries to fight against it because this is a dog-eat-dog world. Nozuko is adorable, and it is easy to mistake her for naïve until she surprises you. She's methodical and hates adapting. A great planner, non-experimental unless pushed. She wants to have an investigative journalistic show on TV, an international platform. MM Media is a step closer but not a destination. Speaking about her new role, Ntshangase said she was excited to join the mother of all soapies. 'Breathing life to the character of Vuyelwa is amazing, and I can't wait for the people to witness the magic.' Phillip 'Tipo' Tindisa will play the role of Donald Brave. A real delakufa. Some may call him a criminal. A survivor. Bitter about everything. Life has knocked him hard. Angry and insecure. Desperate and forced to be dependent. Unreliable. Cunning. Disconnected from family (for years). He is compassionate, loving and caring. With very little education. Educated by hardships. Living in poverty. He is good with guns but would rather not use them. Scared of himself. He knows what he is capable of but avoids being pushed to that point. Gaunt. He has just come from a mine, a hole as a zama-zama. On joining the show, Phillip 'Tipo' Tindisa said, 'I'm honoured to join the cast and crew of Generations: The Legacy, and I am happy to be part of the family.' Sannah Mchunu joins the show as Sis'Phindi MaNxumalo, a modest, kind, silent, but sharp sword when provoked. Secretive. Demanding. Submissive to men only. Adaptable. Full of shame and guilt but comes across as protective. She is bitter and dresses older than she is. Confident on the outside but crumbling on the inside. Courageous. Responsible. Sannah Mchunu said: 'When I got the call that I got the role, I felt like break dancing. I have always wanted to be part of the biggest production, Generations: The Legacy. I thank the almighty for this biggest opportunity.' Ausi Nokwazi debuts on the 30 June, Vuyelwa debuts on the 9 July, Donald debuts on the 11 July and Phindi on 23 July 2025. The show also welcomes back Buntu Petse to reprise her role as Nontle Majola and also bids farewell to the beloved characters of detective Pele Dali Malinga, played by Andile Nebulane and Siphesihle Cele, played by Pearl Noxolo Monama.
