#SHOWBIZ: Actress Amy Nur Tinie: A 'Datuk' offered me to be his third wife
KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Amy Nur Tinie has revealed that she was once propositioned to become the third wife of a man with the title of 'Datuk.'
The 29-year-old actress and former beauty queen recounted the incident, which occurred about six years ago during her active participation in beauty pageants.
"Before I ventured into acting, I was heavily involved in beauty pageants," Amy Nur Tinie explained in a recent news report.
"The expenses associated with competing abroad were substantial, so I sought sponsorship from a corporate entity."
"This particular 'Datuk' offered to sponsor me, but on the condition that I become his third wife," she said.
"He also offered other material comforts, including a house. My mother's response was firm: she wasn't about to sell me off."
"The man was the same age as my father! Anyone driven solely by financial gain would have accepted such an offer," added the artiste, who was crowned Miss Eco International in 2019 in Egypt.
Despite her entry into the entertainment industry stemming from beauty pageants, with acting opportunities arising somewhat fortuitously, Tinie is determined to establish herself as a serious actress.
"I want to move beyond the image of a beauty queen. I want people to recognise me as a versatile actress, not just a pretty face," she said.
