ATALUP - Building Atal Tinkering Lab-Ready Schools
Agency: PTI The Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) initiative by the Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog transforms schools into innovation hubs. With ₹20 lakh in funding, students can solve real-world challenges and experiment like scientists. However, funding alone is not enough. Schools require the right strategy, tools, and support to make these labs come alive. This is where ATALUP – ATL Lifecycle Management System helps schools. From Setup to Success ATALUP provides a step-by-step framework so labs are not just set up but actively used for tinkering. With outreach to 70,000+ schools and 2,700 already onboard, ATALUP is driving a nationwide movement to make schools Atal Tinkering Lab‑ready. 'The goal is not just ATL setup but to help ATL achieve the actual goal of a million innovators in India," says Gaurang Gandhi, Founder of ATALUP. One school with an Atal Tinkering Lab conducted only 100 STEM activities in six years. With ATALUP's structured calendars, real-time tracking, and guidance, they achieved 3,158 activities in just 27 days. Why Schools Choose ATALUP • Hassle‑free eligibility and application support • Easy lab setup & compliance tracking • Teacher training & SOPs to empower educators • Student progress tracking system • Centralized dashboard for principals and management 'Schools across India appreciate ATALUP's free eligibility support and access to the ATALUP Mobile App, promoting a 'Learn by Doing' culture," says ATALUP members Sagar Deshpande, Sagar Udale, and Nikhil Hole. STEM Beyond Classrooms – The ATALUP Mobile App The free ATALUP mobile app engages students beyond the curriculum. 15,000+ students and teachers across 370+ schools in 27 states use it daily. In just one month: • 3,00,000+ STEM activities completed • 12,00,000+ minutes spent experimenting • 2,800+ project videos uploaded Its 21‑day DIY STEM challenge enables students to innovate with simple household items, sparking creativity even before lab equipment arrives. Top 10 ATL Deserving Schools The ATALUP team believes that STEM readiness should be the primary criterion for Atal Tinkering Labs, and these schools deserve ATLs as their students, teachers, and parents have adopted STEM and practical learning while waiting for the government grant.
