Indian Army, ITBP And Locals Unite For Historic Tiranga March At 14,000 ft In Tawang

At 14,000 feet, patriotism met teamwork as the Indian Army's Gajraj Corps led the Tiranga March in Chuna's forward areas to mark the 79th Independence Day. In a novel move, 160 Gorkha troops and 25 ITBP personnel carried the 100-metre National Flag through the lush Himalayan grasslands, joined by approx. 150 local villagers, including toddlers and children from greenfield villages of Mago and Chuna in Tawang District, marching shoulder-to-shoulder, turning the landscape into a vibrant sea of saffron, white, and green. The Civil Administration, under Assistant Commissioner Thutan Wangchu, led the local villagers in the event coordinated and mobilised by the Indian Army. Twenty three students and a teacher from the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, Varanasi (UP) also joined in the march in search of their patriotic roots. After the march, all agencies united with immense patriotic fervour and a deep sense of duty for a 'No Plastic Zone' cleanliness drive, removing waste and reinforcing the campaign to protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem. The tricolour's sweep across towering peaks became a powerful symbol of unity-soldiers securing the frontier while exemplifying 'Living for the Land', villagers safeguarding traditions, and administrators championing sustainability. The march brought a lesson for everyone to become a valuable citizen, emphasizing on the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav', that the future of the nation rests on everyone's shoulders. Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded the effort, calling it the 'true spirit of India at its peaks,' as the tricolour transformed the remote border region into a vibrant scene of national pride and environmental commitment. Every house in Mago and Chuna villages proudly hoisted the National Flag. This collective act of patriotism was a powerful reminder that our freedom is a shared responsibility and a cause for collective celebration. Congress corporator raises controversial slogan at GHMC protest against Pahalgam terror act

A slogan made popular by Bharatiya Janata Party leader, and the present Cabinet Minister in Delhi government, Kapil Mishra, during a rally in Delhi in support of CAA & NRC, was raised during the protest staged against the Pahalgam terrorist attack at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation meeting attended by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shoban Reddy and others. A sit-in was organised with much ado at the GHMC headquarters where efforts were made on putting together a seating arrangement for the protest, in which several corporators too participated along with the newly appointed GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan. Close to 5 p.m., all the officers and staff gathered at the location and paid tribute to the slain citizens by observing two-minute silence. The silence was broken by a Congress corporator who shouted Desh ke gaddaron ko...., which was feebly reciprocated by others who joined with Goli maaro s***on ko. The slogan raked up a controversy when it was used in 'Tiranga March' organised by Mr. Mishra in 2019, and also during an election rally, when raised by former union minister Anurag Thakur. Some reports connected the slogan to the Delhi riots which had resulted in bloodshed, arson and murders in 2020. Congress leadership had then condemned the slogan saying it was provocative and offensive. The protest staged at GHMC had Ms. Vijayalakshmi assure full support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in any action against terrorism. Terrorist attacks spell doom for humanity, peace and social well-being, she said.
