Congress corporator raises controversial slogan at GHMC protest against Pahalgam terror act
A slogan made popular by Bharatiya Janata Party leader, and the present Cabinet Minister in Delhi government, Kapil Mishra, during a rally in Delhi in support of CAA & NRC, was raised during the protest staged against the Pahalgam terrorist attack at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation meeting attended by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shoban Reddy and others. A sit-in was organised with much ado at the GHMC headquarters where efforts were made on putting together a seating arrangement for the protest, in which several corporators too participated along with the newly appointed GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan. Close to 5 p.m., all the officers and staff gathered at the location and paid tribute to the slain citizens by observing two-minute silence. The silence was broken by a Congress corporator who shouted Desh ke gaddaron ko...., which was feebly reciprocated by others who joined with Goli maaro s***on ko. The slogan raked up a controversy when it was used in 'Tiranga March' organised by Mr. Mishra in 2019, and also during an election rally, when raised by former union minister Anurag Thakur. Some reports connected the slogan to the Delhi riots which had resulted in bloodshed, arson and murders in 2020. Congress leadership had then condemned the slogan saying it was provocative and offensive. The protest staged at GHMC had Ms. Vijayalakshmi assure full support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in any action against terrorism. Terrorist attacks spell doom for humanity, peace and social well-being, she said.

Youth Congress holds ‘Tiranga March' to pay tribute to Pahalgam attack victims
The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Friday held a 'Tiranga March' at the Jantar Mantar here in a tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Scores of party workers and supporters, including IYC's National President Uday Bhanu Chib and National Media in-charge Varun Pandey, took out the March from Jantar Mantar Square to Jantar Mantar – a few hundred metres distance. "We appeal to the central government to neutralise the culprits who did this to the people of our country. Now is the time to give a direct and strict response, not diplomacy. The whole country stands with the army and the government, but the response should be visible on the border, not in words," Bhanu told PTI Videos. He said that in an all-party meeting yesterday the Congress affirmed its unequivocal support to the government. "The Congress party is committed to coordinating, cooperating and partnering with the government to root out terrorism. We have fought terrorism and separatism from time to time," Bhanu said. Calling the terror attack "a war against humanity," he said, "Infiltration to the interior parts of our country, killing innocent people, all this is possible only because the terrorist organisations sitting across the border get open support from the Pakistan government." He added, "Now there is a need to root out every hideout of terrorism, adopt a balanced but decisive approach between diplomatic pressure and military action, and most importantly, justice should be given to the family of every martyr. This was not just an attack, it is a war against humanity and we have to win it at all costs."
