[REVIEW] Samsung Galaxy Ring: What you need to know
The Galaxy Ring stands out for its expanded feature set. I am not a big fan of jewellery, except for my wedding ring and smartwatch. So, when Samsung sent me their new Galaxy Ring, I was excited and put away my smartwatch, wearing the ring instead during the short review period to get a sense of its capabilities and limitations. Samsung's Galaxy Ring is comfortable if you get the right size, and I kept forgetting it was on my size 13 finger. Ring size The ring is available in Titanium Black (my review model's hue), Titanium Silver, or Titanium Gold colour choice. It measures 2.6mm around its perimeter and retains that thickness all the way from US size 8 to 15. In case you were wondering, Samsung will send you a sizing kit before letting you complete an order here, which is quite cool before forking out a hefty price tag for something that is not comfortable. After a few weeks of testing the Galaxy Ring, it is among my favourite smart rings I've tried so far, but it is pricey. Health tracking Compared to a smartwatch, the Galaxy Ring is simple; it tracks sleep, heart rate and activity, and it tries to help you interpret all this data in an easy-to-understand way in the Samsung Health app. The Galaxy Ring stands out for its expanded feature set, which includes tools and utilities not found on competing smart rings, like finding it on a map if you lose it and taking photos remotely just by pinching your fingers together, like Apple's Double Tap feature on the Apple Watch Samsung recommends wearing it on the index finger for double-pinch gesture control. I wish the Galaxy Ring could do a lot more with gestures. Like most other rings of this type, it has an array of sensors on the inside: a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor with three LEDs to track changes in blood volume, an accelerometer, and a skin temperature sensor. The Samsung Galaxy Ring comes with a beautiful charging case which has a futuristic look. When you flip it open, internal white lights greet you providing a charge indication. @Samsung #GalaxyRing @SamsungMobileSA @TheCitizen_News — 𝙵𝚊𝚒𝚣𝚎𝚕 𝙿𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚕 ⚡️ (@FaizelPatel143) August 4, 2025 Connectivity Despite being small and light, the Galaxy Ring is durable. It's made of Grade 5 titanium, has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and a 10ATM water pressure rating. The Galaxy Ring requires a phone running at least Android 11 or newer, and you need a Samsung phone to access the full range of its features, such as Galaxy AI insights. The Zenith Ring, by contrast, offers much more flexibility with support for both Android and iOS. Battery Battery capacity for the Galaxy Ring varies based on size, from 18mAh in the size 5 ring to 23mAh in the size 13, which I tested. The biggest size powered through 6.5 days on a charge, just shy of Samsung's seven-day maximum battery life estimate. The beautiful transparent charging case, which has a futuristic look, holds enough battery for about 1.5 charges, which equates to about 9 or 10 days total, depending on your ring size. When you flip it open, internal white lights greet you, providing a charge indication The case uses a USB-C connector to charge, but also supports reverse wireless charging from a Samsung phone. Smart rings Smart rings are a tough sell, given their limited tracking features and smaller size at a full-sized price. Samsung's Galaxy Ring offers plenty to justify its R8 000 price, but an excellent build, case, and battery life can't disguise the fact that you're paying more for a piece of jewellery that does less. The Samsung Galaxy Ring works seamlessly with the Galaxy Watch if you have one. It has a wonderful case, it is light, and features a full suite of health options, including cycle tracking and the ability to auto-detect pool swimming. Verdict However, exclusivity is its greatest gift, and it is not worth getting if you don't have a Samsung or Android phone, sorry, iPhone users. Features that I would consider necessary, like the Energy Score, require Galaxy AI, which is not available on other Android devices, meaning you won't get the metrics if you don't have a Samsung device. It also doesn't have a gyroscope or GPS. At the R8 000 price, you can get the Oura or Zenith smart ring or even a smartwatch that measures more of your health, and if you are not into the health tracking game, you could even get a midrange smartphone for that price.

Infinix Hot 60i arrives with 45W fast charging, same Helio G81 chipset
The Infinix Hot 60i is slimmer than its predecessor, but has a bigger, faster charging battery and is made more durable to boot. Right now, the phone is available in Bangladesh and Kenya, we'll let you know if we spot it anywhere else. The Hot 60i, like the 50i before it, has a 6.7' IPS LCD with 120Hz refresh rate and a Helio G81 Ultimate chipset. The display is slightly brighter at 700 nits (up from 500 nits), but the resolution wasn't upgraded, so it's still a 720p+ panel. On the plus side, it has Always On display functionality. The battery now has 5,160mAh capacity and it supports 45W charging – up from just 18W on the 50i. The extra power allows it to go from 1% to 50% charge in just 24 minutes. Infinix is promising a 5-year lifespan for the battery (1,800 cycles). The four corners of the phone have been reinforced, allowing it to survive 1.5m drops. The phone is rated IP64, meaning that it's dust tight and can survive getting splashed with water. The new frame measures 7.7mm thick and weighs 188g. It's available in a wide variety of colors: Titanium Silver • Sleek Black • Neon Red • Shadow Blue • Meadow Green • Soul Eye Purple The Infinix Hot 60i is equipped with a Hard Gyro, which can be used for motion control in games – it's also precise enough to navigate you through GPS dead zones (underground parking, dense forests, etc.). If you do find yourself lost, the UltraLink feature enables calls and messaging outside of cell coverage (it can connect to other phones at a distance of 500m). NFC connectivity is available for close-by data sharing. And there's an IR blaster for remote control apps. Additional connectivity includes dual-SIM 4G, Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Bluetooth 5.3, a 3.5mm headphone jack and even FM radio. The Helio G81 chip is paired with 4/6/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB eMMC 5.1 storage. The microSD slot allows you to add up to 1TB more. There is a 50MP camera on the back with 1080p @ 30fps video recording, plus an 8MP selfie camera. The Infinix Hot 60i arrives with XOS 15 based on Android 15. And it has AI, of course, which can be summoned instantly using the One-Tap AI button on the side. The Infinix Hot 60i can already be found in stores with a price of BDT 14,000 (€98/$115) for the 6GB/128GB model and BDT 16,500 (€115/$135) for the 8GB/256GB model. Source

Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge is already AU$400 off for EOFY, just weeks after its release
It may have only just been released a few weeks ago, but the impressively thin Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has already had its price slashed by an astonishing AU$400 in this month's EOFY sales. As someone who already uses the Galaxy S25 Ultra as his daily driver, I'm not personally drawn to the Galaxy S25 Edge, though I do see the appeal of a super-slim smartphone that boasts flagship-level specs. If you've been eyeing Samsung's latest premium handset but have been waiting for its price to come down, that time is already here! Amazon is currently selling the 256GB model Galaxy S25 Edge for just AU$1,849 AU$1,449, while the 512GB model is only AU$2,049 AU$1,649. Those prices apply to the Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Silver colour variants, though you can get the same AU$400 discount on the Samsung online store, which also offers the exclusive Titanium Icyblue colourway. Save AU$400 Samsung's wafer-thin Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone has received an epic AU$400 discount in all storage sizes, just weeks out from release. Right now at Amazon, both the Titanium Black and Titanium Silver models are reduced, though you can get these colours or the Titanium Icyblue variant for the same price if you buy directly from the Samsung online store. In our review of the Galaxy S25 Edge, we praised the device's svelte design, but weren't too pleased by the trade-off in battery life that came as a result of its ultra-thin body. Still, there's no denying that this is a premium flagship, sporting the same powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and 200MP main camera as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which not only tops our best Android phones in Australia list, but also sits in first place on our overall best phones 2025 roundup. Normally, I'd recommend paying a little extra for the no-compromise Galaxy S25 Ultra, but this huge AU$400 discount on the Galaxy S25 Edge certainly makes the device a more appealing prospect.
