Phil Robertson, ‘Duck Dynasty' Star Who Spread Homophobic Hate, Dead At 79

'Duck Dynasty' patriarch Phil Robertson has died at the age of 79. Multiple family members announcedthe reality star's death on social media on Sunday, five months after they made public that he'd been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. The cause of death is unknown. The show that made Robertson's name ran on A&E for 11 seasons from 2012 to 2017. It followed his family and their Louisiana hunting and recreation business, Duck Commander. Robertson, though, generated an equal amount of headlines for his anti-gay rhetoric. He was briefly suspended from the show after giving an interview to GQ magazine in which he described 'homosexual behavior' as a sin. While endorsing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the 2016 presidential election, Robertson said same-sex marriage is typical of the 'depravity' taking over America. 'Re-defining marriage and telling us that marriage is not between a man and a woman? C'mon, Iowa, it's nonsense,' Robertson told a campaign rally for Cruz. 'It is evil! It's wicked! It's sinful.' Robertson backed Trump in the 2020 and 2024 elections and appeared on stage with the then-president in 2019. Cruz, who cut a campaign ad with Robertson, led right-wing tributes to the personality, calling him 'one of a kind,' an 'American original' and 'fearless in speaking the truth.' Very sad he has passed. #PhilRobertson was one of a kind. An American original. He loved God, and he was fearless in speaking the truth. Heidi & I are praying for Phil's family. He is with Jesus now. May he rest in peace. ✝️🙏❤️ — Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) May 26, 2025 1 Dead In New York Sewage-Boat Explosion On Hudson River Husband Of 'Today' Show Co-Host Dead At 45 Undefeated Just-Married Boxer Dies At Age 25

Eva Longoria Goes Strapless in Willy Chavarria Dress for CNN's ‘Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain' New York City Screening

Eva Longoria joined a string of special guests for the CNN special screening of her forthcoming series 'Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain' on Monday in New York City. The series follows the 'Flamin' Hot' filmmaker across Spain as she discovers and connects with the cuisine, culture and people of the country. For the special red carpet occasion, Longoria opted for a contemporary design courtesy of Willy Chavarria. The 'Desperate Housewives' alum styled a strapless midi dress in a shade of dark charcoal with buttons running down the front placket of the garment. Longoria complemented the dress with a pair of white, pointed toe pumps. As for accessories, Longoria went minimal, save for a pair of statement earrings. When it came to her glam, Longoria's makeup featured bold brows, a smokey eye and a glossy lip courtesy of Carolina Gonzalez. The actress, filmmaker and producer's hair was styled in a sleek, straight style with a side part by stylist Ricardo Rojas. Longoria's look was curated by stylist Maeve Reilly. Over the course of the last few years, designer Willy Chavarria has made a name for himself as a bold new voice in fashion. The Mexican American designer curates his eponymous label around empowerment, particularly focusing on identity and fashion as an extension of personhood. 'Growing up mixed race in a Mexican American environment, mostly Mexicans, it was immigrants who were living in the town that I grew up in, and given the fact that my parents had met after desegregation, I was always very aware of the politics behind race. So when I started my own label — and just living my life — I felt it was very important to share that awareness with others, and I've incorporated the need for equality and the need for recognition of Latino empowerment in all my work,' Chavarria told WWD in September 2024. The CNN series 'Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain' follows Longoria through the country and into cities like Madrid and Barcelona as she mingles with locals, tries new food and connects with the culture. 'Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain' premieres on CNN on Sunday.
