'Arizona State, still the top dog. returns. out, they brought in a running back transfer, they're gonna have two or three-man rotation. They're going to spread things out more. Todd McShay's Comp for Klubnik? A Rising NFL Star

Todd McShay's Comp for Klubnik? A Rising NFL Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports. NFL Draft guru Todd McShay is high on Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, and he has a compelling NFL comparison that should excite Tigers fans. Advertisement On "The McShay Show," the former ESPN analyst broke down Klubnik's game and saw a striking resemblance to a quarterback who just lit up the AFC West as a rookie: Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix. Rebilas-Imagn Images "I see a lot of Bo Nix in this kid. I see a lot of Bo Nix in Cade Klubnik," McShay stated. "I think he's great when the initial play breaks down, when he's gotta climb the pocket, when he's gotta side step. It's like soothing to him, which I love that." It's a comparison that carries significant weight. Nix, the 12th overall pick in the 2024 draft, is coming off a stellar rookie campaign where he threw for 3,775 yards and 29 touchdowns for the Broncos. He added another 430 yards and four scores with his legs, quickly establishing himself as a franchise player. Advertisement McShay admits he may have initially overlooked some of the traits in Nix that he now sees in Klubnik. "Watch his arm, like how loose, and the ball, it has more energy than it looks," McShay added, describing a shared "elastic" quality in both quarterbacks' arms. "I said the same thing about Bo, and I put too much emphasis on all the problems at Auburn and not enough on the development at Oregon. I absolutely undervalued Bo Nix." Klubnik, now entering his senior season, is building a resume that justifies the hype. In a dominant 2024 junior year, he was one of only two quarterbacks nationwide to pass for over 3,500 yards and rush for over 400. By the Numbers: Klubnik's 2024 Breakout Advertisement Passing: 3,639 yards, 36 TDs, 6 INTs Rushing: 463 yards, 7 TDs Total Touchdowns: 43 (2nd in FBS) His impressive touchdown-to-interception ratio (36-to-6) was among the nation's best, showcasing the decision-making that has scouts buzzing. The buzz is translating directly to his draft stock. In McShay's Way-Too-Early 2026 Mock Draft, he projected Klubnik as a top-five pick, landing with the Cleveland Browns. "When I'm saying Bo Nix [comp to Klubnik], like look at the size, look at the mobility, look at the elastic arm, look at kind of the chaos pressure stuff," McShay clarified. "I'm not saying the ceiling is Bo Nix. I'm just saying when I watch him, I see a lot of the same stuff." Advertisement As Klubnik enters the 2025 season as a bona fide Heisman Trophy candidate, the comparison to a successful pro like Nix will only amplify the spotlight on the Clemson signal-caller. Commanders Rookie Electric Season Predicted By NFL Analyst

The Washington Commanders added to an already stellar offseason with a 2025 NFL Draft class that is rapidly growing in popularity. Free agency acquisitions like offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and receiver Deebo Samuel will bolster the Commanders offense that was already lethal last season with breakout star quarterback Jayden Daniels. Advertisement After the Draft, Daniels has been given even more firepower in the form of Virginia Tech receiver Jaylin Lane. Even better? Lane was a steal in many eyes after being picked No. 128 overall in the fourth round. Commanders fans can't be more excited, and that energy is rubbing off on analysts as well. NFL Draft expert Todd McShay believes Lane's fit with the Commanders could turn out to be beneficial as any from this Draft. Washington only had a five-player haul, and while McShay has raved about many of them, he particularly liked Lane. "And Jaylin Lane at 128, I had him in my top 100 and I don't apologize for it," McShay said. Advertisement "I think Jaylin Lane's going to wind up being the big surprise from this class as a fourth-round pick." McShay added how Daniels and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury will allow Lane to thrive like he never has before. "You watch. With that quarterback and that play-caller, you watch Jaylin Lane and his 4.3-something speed ... "Jaylin Lane has never had a quarterback who can accurately get him the football. So everything was a reverse, a bubble screen, like all sorts of gimmicky stuff," McShay added. "He can return. He's an A++++ character. Just loves the game." Lane likely won't be asked to be an immediate contributor because of how prolific Washington's offense already is, but that doesn't eliminate the possibility of him being used in a variety of ways to make an impact. Advertisement At 5-10, 191 pounds, he has explosive play potential in the slot. Lane can dart through open space to be a reliable target for chunk plays. Last season with the Hokies, he averaged 12.3 yards per reception, but also showed versatility running out of the backfield, rushing for 116 yards on 18 attempts (6.4 per). We assume Kingsbury plans on getting him the ball in many creative ways to utilize that electric speed and elusiveness. Now for Lane, it is a matter of him making good use of those touches on this loaded Commanders offense. Todd McShay Names Next Breakout WR Beside Ryan Williams

If not for Jeremiah Smith, Alabama Crimson Tide receiver Ryan Williams would've been the undisputed best freshman at his position last season. Due partly to the attention Williams will draw for Kalen DeBoer's team this upcoming campaign, NFL draft analyst Todd McShay believes Germie Bernard will enjoy a breakout go-round. "But Germie Bernard, I'm excited to watch at Alabama," McShay said last Thursday on "The McShay Show." "They think that they got some of their offense rolling, the passing game is gonna get rolling again this year. I think Germie is gonna have a lot more opportunities. The thing about Germie that I liked? He showed up, like, big moments. He would find a way to uncover, get open. ... He's obviously got a superstar true freshman opposite (him) that they're targeting." Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Germie Bernard (5).© Gary Cosby Jr.-Imagn Images Bernard, a senior, previously made stops at Michigan State and Washington. He was a Crimson Tide starter last season, leading the crew with 50 receptions. His 794 yards and two touchdowns ranked second behind Williams. Tight end C.J. Dippre, the team's third-leading pass-catcher a year ago, joined Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie. Advertisement Last month, Bernard made a bold claim about the Crimson Tide's receiver room, dubbing it the best in college football. "We got a lot of speed, we got a lot of strength," Bernard said. "We got guys that can block, we got guys that can make contested catches. We got guys that are tough. We got guys that can get open." Does top draft analyst Todd McShay have LSU's Mason Taylor as first-round pick?

Does top draft analyst Todd McShay have LSU's Mason Taylor as first-round pick? Ahead of Thursday's 2025 NFL Draft, LSU's Mason Taylor is gaining steam as a potential first-round pick. Top NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay agrees with that sentiment. Todd McShay projects Taylor as the final pick of the first round in his most recent mock draft. The Philadelphia Eagles hold the No. 32 overall pick of the first round, and the NFL analyst has Taylor as their selection. He would join the reigning Super Bowl champions and their revered tight end room. The Eagles' offense isn't all that different from the one Taylor operated in at LSU. Philly needs a tight end that can play in the spread and contribute as a blocker. Once believed to be a second or third-rounder, the former LSU tight end impressed with his Senior Bowl and pre-draft workout performances. Those showings capped off a junior season where Taylor became the most productive tight end in LSU history. The Eagles boast Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra at the position, coached by Jason Michael. Should the team want to add a young player with potential, Taylor would make a great fit.
