Reading owners in town for meet and greet and firework display against Huddersfield

Reading supporters are being encouraged to arrive early to the match on Saturday for a meet-and-greet with new owners Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair. The Royals lost 2-0 at Lincoln City on the opening day of the League One season, but the Select Car Leasing Stadium opens its doors for the first time in 2025/26 when Huddersfield Town visit this Saturday. Live on Sky Sports Football and pushed forward to a 12.30pm kick-off, a firework and pyrotechnics display will kick-start the Couhig era in Berkshire from 12.20pm. Ahead of the match, from 11am outside the Sir John Madejski Stand, Couhig and business partner Trosclair will be on the Purple Turtle Stage to meet with supporters. This will come less than 48 hours on from his appearance at a Q&A organised by the Former Players Association which is from 7pm tonight (Thursday) at the Hilton Hotel on Kennet Island. Other fun events on the day include music from DJ Harry, a meet and greet with representatives from Reading FC Women and collectable Royals cups for alcoholic and soft drinks. Supporters are being asked to bring blue and white balloons and wear blue and white shirts to create an impressive visual scene. Speaking ahead of the visit of the Terriers, who beat Leyton Orient 3-0 in their opening match on Saturday, manager Noel Hunt said: "It's a new era at the club- we all know that. You guys have been through some tough times and we've survived it together. You are the ones who kept us going, and hopefully vice versa. "We are rebuilding the club, and the team, and we would love you all to come along and support us. It will be great to see you all on Saturday to get behind the boys. Together, we can achieve great things."

Reading supporters encouraged to bring blue and white balloons on opening home match

Reading supporters are being encouraged to bring out the blue and white for Saturday's first home match of the season. With almost 9,000 season ticket holders for the 2025/26 League One campaign and big-spending Huddersfield Town in RG2 for the 12.30 kick-off, a good sized crowd is expected at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. The campaign got underway in disappointing fashion, losing 2-0 to Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Saturday, but the Royals will be hoping to emulate last season's opening home match victory, which came against Wigan Athletic. Co-owners Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair will be in attendance, and supporters are being encouraged to bring blue and white shirts as well as blue and white balloons for the occasion. "New season, new owners and a new start," said fan group Club 1871. "This Saturday we encourage you to wear blue and white and bring blue & white balloons to celebrate the new season in Bring the noise and get behind the lads no matter what. See you there." Supporters Trust at Reading [STAR] backed the campaign and called on 'everyone' to get behind it. Together, we can achieve great things." The match is live on Sky Sports for those unable to attend at the SCL Stadium.

Reading owner calls on fans to 'fill the stadium' with season ticket update

Reading co-owner Todd Trosclair has alerted supporters to the imminent arrival of season ticket news. Trosclair, described by business partner Rob Couhig as the 'quintessential self-made man', has become popular on social media with regular interactions with supporters and teasers. In his latest message, he called on supporters to 'fill the stadium' and stated that season ticket details will drop this week. While figures aren't available for this season, last season saw the lowest number of season ticket holders for well over a decade, with 7,941 committing for the campaign and just shy of 13,000 average home crowds. (Image: James Earnshaw) In the campaign immediately before the Covid-19 pandemic, over 9,500 were sold and a whopping 14,000 were sold in 2013/14 following the club's relegation from the Premier League. Couhig, who is set to return to the town next week for the first time since sealing the deal, believes season ticket holders are the lifeblood of the club and deserve praise for their 'unequivocal support of the magnificent institution.' Trosclair said: "We need your support…season tickets go on sale Thursday…we want to win and need you to fill the stadium…what a privilege to be your partner."

Redwood Holdings Limited vow to return Reading ‘to its rightful place in English football' after completing takeover

Reading have announced that Redwood Holdings Limited has completed its takeover of the club. Both the English Football League (EFL) and the League One club confirmed that an agreement in principle had been reached on May 3. Redwood Holdings Ltd is a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, which is owned by Rob Couhig, an American lawyer who previously owned fellow League One side Wycombe Wanderers. Couhig's investment will be made alongside business partner Todd Trosclair. Advertisement A statement from the club read: 'The takeover, which has received EFL clearance, was completed very early on Wednesday morning (May 14) and includes the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground. 'Both Couhig and Trosclair of New Orleans, Louisiana, will join the club's board with immediate effect, with Couhig being named as chairman. 'Rob is an investor, lawyer, and entrepreneur who is the former owner of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club and the New Orleans Zephyrs – his hometown baseball team. 'Todd is the owner of All Star Electric, one of the largest and most respected electrical contractors on the USA's Gulf Coast, and a successful investor within the real estate and hospitality sector. He is also the founder of the All Star Foundation which contributes to various charitable initiatives. 'Redwood is ambitious and dedicated towards the club returning to its rightful place within the English football pyramid, while adhering to clear principles of honesty, transparency, and financial sustainability.' Amy and I are thankful to be in a partnership with Rob and Missy Couhig! It's Rob's tenacity that has gotten through this last year. We are all very excited to be a part of the Reading family and we will be attending many games. #RCouhig @ReadingFC — Todd Trosclair (@ToddTrosclair) May 14, 2025 Redwood's acquisition of Reading ends Dai Yongge's controversial eight-year ownership of the club, which has included multiple points deductions and relegation from the Championship. The Chinese businessman has been disqualified under the EFL's owners' and directors' test and was given until May 8 to divest his interests in the club. In June 2024, Reading were forced to withdraw from the Women's Championship for the 2024-25 season due to financial issues, being demoted to the fifth tier of English women's football. Reading's 4-2 home defeat to Barnsley on May 3 meant that they finished in seventh position in League One, three points off securing play-off qualification.
