Lorraine Kelly insists ‘I'm not done yet' after ITV slashes her show by 30mins and takes it off air for half the year

LORRAINE Kelly has insisted that she's 'not done yet' after ITV slashed her daytime show by 30 minutes. The legendary breakfast TV host has broken her silence after the commercial broadcaster announced its daytime massacre. 5 5 Lorraine, 65, has been appearing on ITV breakfast screens for over four decades. She joined the original breakfast TV station TV-am in 1994 as its Scotland Correspondent. When the Camden-based company lost its licence, she was one of only a few stars who made the switch to GMTV in 1993. Since then she has been a mainstay fixture on ITV screens in various iterations of the morning format. However, the commercial network has announced sweeping changes to its daytime output. From January, Lorraine will only take to the airwaves for 30 weeks of the year and for only half an hour at a time. Following the announcement, fears rose that the veteran presenter could quit the channel entirely. However, she insisted that she was not quite done yet when she spoke to Tom Kerridge on the Proper Tasty podcast. "I've been doing telly for over 40 years. It's mad isn't it? It's absolutely crazy," Lorraine remarked. "I started in breakfast telly in 1984, and I'm still getting away with it. Extraordinarily. Richard Madeley was facing GMB axe before crunch talks as another HUGE star 'is set to leave ITV' amid cuts bloodbath "40 years in TV last year was incredible. I got a BAFTA. "Here's a BAFTA for being alive." I thought, "Hang on a minute, I'm not done yet".' However, the star did allude that she likes to do different projects away from her She continued: "Not so much in the morning, but if I do a wee show on Channel 4, or The Last Leg, or something like that. You can be unleashed. And I quite like that. "You do have to have a self-edit button, and I'm finding mine is not operating as much as it should. ITV's daytime TV schedule changes in full Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes to run from 6am to 9.30am daily. Lorraine will run from 9.30am-10am, on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, Good Morning Britain will run from 6am to 10am. This Morning will remain in its 10am-12.30pm slot on weekdays throughout the year. Loose Women will be in the 12.30-1.30pm slot, again on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. The changes will take effect from January 2026. Lorraine added: "So, when I'm sitting there and I look at something and I think, "Gosh, what an absolute k**b that person is," or how silly they are, I say it and I don't realise I've said it. So I have to watch." This comes after it was reported that Lorraine had refused an 'insulting offer' from bosses to sign a new contract. A source explained that she declined the opportunity to merge her daytime show with Good Morning Britain, and was 'prepared to walk away.' A new role titled 'Head of Lorraine' has also been created to oversee the daytime changes, but the contract only lasts for 12-months. 5 5

And to round off your meal, there's a tempting selection of new desserts which people have been going absolutely wild over on social media. The sweet treat selection includes a UK first, as M&S combines cookies and cheesecake to create new Cookie Cups. Available in three flavours (Raspberry & White Chocolate, Extremely Chocolatey and Hazelnut Praline) they cost £2.69 each and are described as being a chewy cookie with smooth cheesecake filling. Each is topped with a sauce, chocolate chunks and various other goodies. They've also put new spins on classic pastries, launching Double Filled Lemon Eclairs (£3), which see choux pastry filled with whipped cream and lemon curd before being topped with a tangy lemon fondant. Tirami-choux Profiteroles (£4) have hit the chilled section too and as the name suggests these are choux pastries containing a coffee, mascarpone and a Marsala cream filling, with chocolate sauce on top. Tiramisu fans can also get their hands on new full-size twists on the Italian dessert, with a Limoncello version and a Hazelnut one (both £5.25). And for the pistachio lovers mini Pistachio Tiramisu pots are also being sold for £2 for two. Yum! Social media users have been raving over the new releases, with the Cookie Cups causing a particular stir online. In response to a post about them on the Snack News & Reviews page on Facebook, John Andrew said he was 'drooling', while Gemma Halbert commented: 'I need one of these pronto' and Jasmine Smith branded them as 'lush'. On Instagram, @sweetreviewsuk said: 'Wow, these look delicious!' and @golf_mamma proclaimed 'they were amazing'. Similarly, @sk86x thought the 'white chocolate one is absolutely incredible' and @bonbonbonia shared: 'This is very naughty and I like it.' Some also said they were 'yummy', would 'go down a treat' and they'd be 'great with a brew'. This comes after M&S recently were trumped by cheap sausages in a supermarket taste test. Nine supermarket own-brand sausages were pitted against each other as part of the test and compared to several popular brands too, like Heck and Jolly Hog. Ultimately, three ended up being named the superior 'best buys' of the lot and it was Lidl's Deluxe Pork Sausages (£2.49 for 400g) sausages that topped the rankings with a score of 77%. Consumers loved their 'juicy texture', 'perfect meaty flavour' and said the 'herb and spice seasoning that hit the spot'. More Trending However, it's worth noting that Lidl's sausages are pretty high in saturated fat. Two sausages contain 11.5g, which is more than half the recommended daily maximum for women and more than a third for men. M&S came in second place with the Collection British Outdoor Bred Pork Sausages (£4.50 for 400g) came in second place with an overall score of 75%. The priciest of the bunch, these were well-liked sausages with good pork flavour, juiciness and salt levels relished by three-quarters of the tasters. Tom Kerridge shuts his trendy Chelsea Butcher's Tap and Grill pub just 18 months after opening

Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge has shut his west London pub just 18 months after opening it and six months after he warned that Rachel Reeves 's Budget would decimate the hospitality industry. Mr Kerridge only opened the doors to the Butcher's Tap and Grill in Chelsea in December 2023 following the success of the original pub in Buckinghamshire, but it is set to serve its last customers this weekend. Housed in a two-storey Victorian property, the pub sold food such as gourmet burgers and hot dogs while the bar offered a variety of craft beers. It racked up an impressive four star rating on TripAdvisor with many praising its steak offerings which led one reviewer to label it 'a meat eaters delight'. But rising costs and a decrease in demand led to Mr Kerridge deciding to close the shop. A spokesman for the chef told The Standard: 'The team has worked hard to make the concept work but nothing is a given in the challenging climate hospitality businesses now face. 'Increasing costs demand a match in revenue and turnover that has not materialised at the site, providing an opportunity to regroup, rethink and rebuild. 'The group remains confident it can learn from the experiences in Chelsea and adapt to create something great.' The closure comes less six months after Mr Kerridge warned the Budget would have a 'catastrophic effect' on his industry. The chef had previously endorsed Labour at the General Election and was one of 120 business figures who signed an open letter in May saying it was time to 'give Labour a chance'. But in December last year Mr Kerridge said the rise in employers' National Insurance payments imposed by Rachel Reeves would lead to a 'huge amount of closures' in the hospitality sector. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp seized on his comments, saying: 'Labour tricked businesspeople like Tom into supporting them at the election by pretending they had no plans to significantly raise taxes.' Mr Kerridge had said he faced additional costs of about £850 a year for each of his 200 staff - totalling £170,000.
