Saints 'must make improvements' for better form

St Helens can build consistency as the season draws on if they can keep finding measures to improve their game, head coach Paul Wellens won their first four games of the season - including a record 82-0 thrashing of Salford Red Devils - Saints have lost two of their past three side followed their defeat by Hull KR with a Challenge Cup victory over Leeds, but they were narrowly beaten by Warrington on their return to Super League last week."We've got to keep finding improvements and I think we're doing that week to week," he told BBC Radio Merseyside."The really frustrating part last week was that we were performing quite well in the main but there were a few moments we didn't get right."So we've got to find those improvements and we feel that as a team in time we can build some real consistency into our performances and the results will then take care of themselves."Saints travel to the south of France to face Catalans Dragons on Saturday knowing they will face off against former full-back Tommy Makinson, who joined Les Dracs ahead of spent well over a decade with Saints and having played alongside him during his playing days, Wellens says his side will have a unique understanding of the threat he can pose and will have a plan in place to deal with him."We're looking forward to locking horns. We know what his strengths are inside out," he added."We have to have a bit of a plan over how we handle good players. He did so well here for such a long time. He's a great lad and someone we miss having around but nonetheless at the weekend for 80 minutes he's our opponent and we have to work really hard to stop him having an influence on the game."
