Five-Star PF Toni Bryant reveals thoughts on Mizzou prior to visit

Five-Star PF Toni Bryant reveals thoughts on Mizzou prior to visit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After finishing with a record of 8-24 and having no conference wins two years ago, the Missouri Tigers and head coach Dennis Gates have rebounded nicely from rock bottom. A solid 2024-25 campaign helped to lay the vision for the future, and that future includes contending and landing top talent that has eluded them for years. Advertisement The 2026 recruiting cycle will be one of the biggest in Gates' time at Mizzou. The class is flush with talent and Missouri has an opportunity to build for a deep run in March Madness if they can land some of the top flair. One of those players that the Tigers are targeting is five-star power forward Toni Bryant from Zephyrhills, Florida. Missouri head coach Dennis Gates is looking to turn Mizzou into a powerhouse, and top 2026 recruit Toni Bryant could help the Tigers make a deep run in March.© Nelson Chenault-Imagn Images The Tigers have been recruiting Bryant for over a year now, offering the young five-star back in May of 2024. Earlier this week, Bryant spoke with Travis Branham of 247Sports about his recruitment and gave his thoughts on each of the schools at the top of his list. 'Coach (Dennis) Gates is one of my favorite head coaches for sure. I am probably most excited to get out there," Bryant told Branham. "I am just excited to see the campus. All of the assistants, Coach Gates, they all get out to see me as much as they can, so that's the school that shows the most love.' Bryant's comments on the Tigers are notable. Gates and his staff have spent their time in Columbia trying to rebuild the program back to it's once dominant place, and the comments made by Bryant point towards the culture within the program being stronger than ever. Advertisement Mizzou hasn't landed a five-star recruit in almost a decade, with the last being when Michael Porter Jr. and Jontay Porter joined Cuonzo Martin's 2017-18 squad. If Bryant were to commit to Mizzou, he would become the second highest ranked prospect in program history, behind only Porter Jr. The Tigers will get plenty of additional looks at Bryant between now and when he visits campus in the fall. He is set to play for Tre Mann Elite in the Pro16 AAU circuit before completing his senior year. 5-Star College Basketball Recruit Eyes Major Kansas Move

Five-star forward Toni Bryant didn't suit up this weekend during the Puma Pro 16 Circuit — but that doesn't mean the recruiting buzz has cooled off. The 6-foot-10 forward out of Florida, ranked No. 10 nationally and No. 3 among power forwards in the 2026 class by 247Sports, is drawing major attention from college basketball's blue bloods. Advertisement Though he's already taken official visits to Boston College and Cal, Bryant told On3's Jamie Shaw that Kansas and Missouri are firmly in the mix for his next visits. It's not hard to see why the Jayhawks would be a draw. Despite a rocky 2024–25 season — a 21-13 finish that ended with a stunning first-round NCAA Tournament exit — Bill Self's program remains one of the premier destinations in college hoops. Kansas started the year as the preseason No. 1, but injuries and chemistry issues derailed the campaign. Help is on the way in the form of 2025 five-star Darryn Peterson, but the Jayhawks are clearly looking to reload quickly. Advertisement Bryant, with his size, skill, and defensive upside, could be a centerpiece in that future rebuild. Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Taormina-Imagn Images The standout forward has been selective about his visits, and skipping this weekend's event is reportedly part of his prep for next week's live evaluation period — a stretch that could vault his stock even higher. For now, all eyes are on whether Kansas can lock in an official visit from Bryant. If they do, it could be a key step in restoring the Jayhawks to title contention. UNC basketball program offers five-star recruit

Despite the struggles the North Carolina Tar Heels are having this season, they are getting set to welcome in a top 10 recruiting class for 2025 headlined by Caleb Wilson. That class as well as the 2026 classes will be the key to future success for the program, so it's important they find a way to land talented prospects. And on Monday, they officially entered the race for a five-star recruit in the 2026 cycle. Power forward Toni Bryant officially landed an offer from Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels on Monday night, picking up his 20th offer in his recruitment. The 6-foot-9, 200-pound Bryant is drawing a lot of interest from some big programs including UNC, Kansas and Duke, as well as others. With the UNC offer, the Tar Heels are now officially in pursuit of the Florida native, hoping to add him to their 2026 class which currently has no commitments. 2026 five-star PF Toni Bryant has received an offer from North Carolina, his coach tells @247Sports. — Travis Branham (@TravisBranham_) February 18, 2025 Bryant hails out of Zephyrhills, Florida and is ranked No. 10 nationally, the No. 3 power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports rankings. In addition to picking up a UNC offer, Bryant will also visit Kansas on Saturday for an unofficial visit per Travis Branham of 247Sports. With UNC involved, it would be shocking not to see him on UNC's campus at some point in his recruitment. So far, UNC has offered nine players in the 2026 recruiting class.
