Girl, 17, ‘sexually assaulted' in city centre park in early hours as boy, 15, and man, 31, arrested
TWO people have been arrested, including a 15-year-old boy, after a girl was raped in a park in the early hours of the morning. The 17-year-old girl was subjected to the harrowing ordeal near the tennis courts in Cripplegate Park, Worcester, at around 2am on Sunday. West Mercia Police have since arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 31-year-old man on suspicion of rape following "extensive enquiries." Officers are searching for two 18-year-olds, described as a man and a woman, who helped the victim following the incident. Detective Superintendent Tony Garner said: "I'm pleased that we've been able to quickly identify and detain two people in relation to this distressing incident. "I would like to reassure you that we no longer believe there is any threat to the wider public. "Our enquiries have established that the victim, a 17-year-old girl, was helped by two members of the public following the incident. "They are described as a man and woman, both around 18 years old. "They are not in any trouble, but we are keen to identity them as they may have important evidence which will help with our investigation. "We would ask them to please get in touch with Detective Sergeant Leanne Mitchell as soon as possible." Police remained on the scene yesterday as their enquiries into the horror attack continue. 1

A 15-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of rape in Mercia Police said it happened in Cripplegate Park at about 02:00 BST on Sunday.A 31-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of rape, has been released without force is appealing for two people who helped the victim, a 17-year-old girl, following the incident to come forward. "They are described as a man and woman, both around 18 years old, and were in Cripplegate Park at the time," said Det Supt Tony Garner."They are not in any trouble, but we are keen to identify them, as they may have important evidence which will help with our investigation."I would like to reassure you that we no longer believe there is any threat to the wider public."The 15-year-old remains in police custody. Worcester rape investigation launched during show weekend
Police are investigating a rape during one of Worcester's biggest weekends of the say a person was attacked in Cripplegate Park at about 02:00 BST on Sunday, with forensic inquiries being carried out near tennis courts. It comes as thousands are expected in the area for the Worcester Show at nearby Mercia Police did not reveal any details about the gender of the victim, but said it would provide further information soon. Det Supt Tony Garner said the news would be unsettling for the local community but the force was taking the incident seriously. "I know that the area is likely to be busy today with families enjoying the sunshine and visiting the Worcester Show," he added."You will see an increased police presence around Cripplegate park and Pitchcroft and we would encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to officers."
