Drake's Album Spikes More Than 8,500% In Sales
Drake's Some Sexy Songs 4 U is a bestselling title in America once more. The set, released earlier in 2025, skyrockets on the Billboard charts this frame. It has performed well for months, but this time around, sales are driving its resurgence. The project was recently released on vinyl, and fans showed up in a meaningful way. The collaborative effort earns a very welcome boost up the rankings thanks to a massive increase in pure purchases, tied directly to the wax drop. In the past tracking frame, Some Sexy Songs 4 U sold just under 9,300 copies, according to Luminate, the organization that gathers sales and streaming data that powers the Billboard rankings. That's a lofty figure for any hip-hop project, especially one that's been out for several months. The week prior, Some Sexy Songs 4 U managed to sell only 100 copies. Of course, that number doesn't include streaming activity, and total consumption was much, much more impressive. From one frame to the next, Drake and PartyNextDoor's album saw its sales grow by an incredible 8,557%. That spike of several thousand percent ensures Some Sexy Songs 4 U gains considerable ground on the charts in the U.S. After managing just a few weeks on the Top Album Sales chart previously, Drake and his production partner reappear at No. 7 — only a handful spots shy of the set's No. 3 peak. The title also returns to the runner-up rung on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It remains in that position on the Top Rap Albums ranking, where it has stood out as a strong performer since it debuted. Some Sexy Songs 4 U launches on one tally this frame, as it opens at No. 4 on the Vinyl Albums chart. The set gives both Drake and PartyNextDoor their first top 10s on the list of the bestselling vinyl-only offerings in the country. Drake also climbs on the Billboard 200, as general consumption of Some Sexy Songs 4 U rises alongside purchases — though sales are largely to thank. The collection, which improves two spaces to No. 5, moved more than 47,000 equivalent units, which is up more than 17% from just days ago. Drake has long been a top star on the Billboard rankings, dating back nearly two decades. He has largely relied on streaming platforms to power his massively popular albums and singles, with sales never being a determining factor — especially not vinyl. But now, he appears to be embracing the vinyl craze that has overtaken younger Americans, and Some Sexy Songs 4 U stands out as his biggest win in that space.

Mamamoo's Moonbyul to drop solo single
Moonbyul of Mamamoo will be dropping a solo digital single on June 17, announced agency RBW Entertainment on Friday. Dubbed 'Icy Bby,' the single will give fans a taste of her soon-to-be-released album. The news came on the seventh anniversary of her solo career, which began with single album 'Selfish.' More recently, she released 'Starlit of Twinkle: Repackage' in August last year, a reissue of her first solo studio album, 'Starlit of Muse.' The original album topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in 10 regions while the repackage topped the chart in seven. Alongside the release of "Starlit of Twinkle: Repackage," Moonbyul hosted her first solo international tour, visiting fans in eight cities in Asia and 12 in North America. In July, she will hold fan concerts in Japan: in Tokyo on July 4 and in Osaka on July 12. glamazon@

SB19 Almost Hits No. 1 With New Project, Which Earns A Great Start
It's a big day for SB19, one that may mark the start of an exciting chapter for the musical act. The Filipino boy band dropped its new EP Simula at Wakas on Friday (April 25), and within hours, it was clear that this latest release is headed for real, quantifiable success in the United States. Based on some promising initial placements, the project is off to one of the group's best starts yet. SB19 Scores One of the Top Debuts on iTunes Fridays are always crowded on iTunes. The beginning of a new tracking frame typically brings with it a flood of exciting releases, as artists rush to drop singles and full-lengths to maximize their seven-day window for streams and sales. Even with the typical weekly chaos, SB19 manages to stand out. Simula at Wakas rises to No. 2 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in the U.S., as of the time of publishing. That positioning makes it the third-bestselling title in the country on that one platform on Friday. While iTunes doesn't account for all purchases in the U.S., it still serves as a helpful early indicator of which projects are resonating most with fans in real time, as well as which titles may perform well on the Billboard charts in a few days. SB19 Trails Only Ghost and Final Fantasy XVI The only new release managing to outperform SB19 on iTunes this frame is Skeletá by Ghost. The Swedish metal group's latest set bolts to No. 1, easily becoming the to-performing new release this week, at least initially. For some time, SB19 was also beaten by the Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack. That album sat in between Ghost and the Filipino musical troupe for a while, after slipping from No. 1. That's not the case as of the time of writing, as it declines to third place, while the boy band advances. Elsewhere on the ranking, other notable arrivals include new efforts from Machine Head, Coco Jones, Shaboozey, and the 2024 Broadway cast recording of Gypsy. SB19's First Single From the EP Is Already a Chart-Topper Before Simula at Wakas arrived in full, SB19 pushed one tune from the project to one of Billboard's rosters. The EP's first single, 'Dam,' rose to No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart earlier this year. It became the band's first champion on that tally, which is often dominated by international stars. The cut marked SB19's second top 10 on that list to date. The group's earlier single 'Gento' previously peaked at No. 8 two years ago. The success of both 'Dam' and the early warm welcome enjoyed by Simula at Wakas may be a sign that a new foreign boy band is about to become the hottest thing in America, changing the look and sound of what's huge in the music industry.
