Watch: Pakistan Shaheens Opener Throws Bat, Shouts At Partner Over Run-Out After Horrible Mix-Up
Pakistan Shaheens got off to a superb start in the Top End T20 Series in Australia. The side registered a dominating 79-run victory over Bangladesh A in the series opener at Darwin on Thursday. Yasir Khan, Khawaja Nafay and Abdul Samad scored fifties as Pakistan Shaheens posted a massive total of 227 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, the side bundled out Bangladesh A for 148, thanks to three-wicket hauls by Faisal Akram and Saad Masood. While it was a memorable start for the Pakistan Shaheens, the match hogged limelight for a wrong reason. It was Nafay losing his cool at Yasir that got into the focus. The duo stitched a solid 118-run partnership for the opening wicket before the incident took place. It happened on the first ball of the 12th over bowled by Mrittunjoy Chowdhury. The pacer went with a fuller delivery into the body of Yasir, who tried to smash it away but missed. The ball hit his pad and then his leg before going to the leg side, right next to the pitch. Nafay called for a single and Yasir too took a step forward before realising that the ball was so close and Bangladesh A wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan had almost approached it. The batter on strike got back to his crease and this left Nafay with no option but to try and return to the non-striker's end. Before Nafay could get to the other end, the wicketkeeper threw the ball to the bowler at the non-striker's end and the run-out was effected. Getting out through a horrible mix-up, Nafay could not control his anger and lashed out at his partner for the dismissal. He thew his bat on the ground and started shouting at his partner. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Maybe the two Pakistani openers will talk through their mix up nice and calmly... Or maybe Yasir and Nafay have a different way of communicating #TopEndT20 | Live on 7plus — 7Cricket (@7Cricket) August 14, 2025 Pakistan Shaheens will play their next match against Perth Scorchers Academy on August 16.

PAK Batter Loses Cool At Teammate After Horrible Mix-Up Leads To Run Out
Last Updated: The incident took place on the first ball of the 12th over of the Pakistan Shaheen innings. Nafay scored 61 runs from 31 balls. Pakistan Shaheens opening batter Khawaja Muhammad Nafay lost his cool at teammate Yasir Khan on Thursday (August 14) after a horrible mix-up between the two led to his run-out in the first T20 match. In the first match of the T20 series played at the TIO Stadium in Northern Territory, Australia, on the first ball of the 12th over of Pakistan Shaheen's innings bowled by Hasan Mahmud, Yasir tried to play a big shot, but he failed to connect with the ball properly. Nafay, who was at the non-striker's end, felt there was an opportunity to take the run, and he left his crease. Yasir was initially interested in taking the run, and he took a couple of steps forward as well before backing out. Nafay, who by that time had almost reached the striker's end, then had to make a U-turn, but before he could return back to the non-striker's end, Hasan removed the bails after collecting the ball from a throw by the Bangladesh A wicketkeeper. After getting out for a score of 61 runs from 31 balls with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes, Nafay threw his bat in anger and started yelling at his opening partner. The clip of his animated chat with Yasir was shared by 7Cricket on X, and within no time it went viral on the internet. Before making his way back to the pavilion, Nafay added 118 runs in 11.1 overs for the first wicket with Yasir. The 100+ run opening stand between the two set the foundation of the big total for the team from Pakistan, and they posted a total of 227 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. In reply to the 228-run target, Bangladesh A could only manage to score 148 runs in 16.5 overs and lost the contest by 79 runs. 11-team tournament A total of 11 teams are taking part in the Top End T20 series in Australia, which will be played from August 14 to 24. Apart from the Pakistan Shaheens, two teams of Bangladesh A, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades, Hobart Hurricanes, NT Strike, Adelaide Strikers, Perth Scorchers, ACT Comets and Nepal are playing. view comments First Published: August 14, 2025, 18:39 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
