Eagles' Landon Dickerson Serves Beers at Practice While Recovering From Surgery
Landon Dickerson played bartender and served cold ones for the Super Bowl champion Eagles with the injured offensive lineman's career temporarily on ice. The Eagles can't wait for Dickerson to resume his day job. Dickerson passed around beers Thursday at the end of a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns — with a brace on his right knee following meniscus surgery that will keep the three-time Pro Bowl lineman sidelined at least through the end of training camp. Dickerson was injured at the end of Sunday's open practice at Lincoln Financial Field. There is no set timetable for his return, and Brett Toth took first-team snaps at left guard this week at practice. Toth likely will start for the Eagles when they play their second preseason game on Saturday against the Browns. "Whatever they ask me to do, I'm going to step to the plate and give it the best I got," Toth said. "Hopefully I can perform to the standard that was before me." Beyond that, there are no guarantees. The Eagles remain hopeful Dickerson could return for the season opener when the Eagles raise their championship banner on Sept. 4 against Dallas. "Don't have to name any starters or any backups at any position," coach Nick Sirianni said. "Brett's done a nice job and I like the depth that we have at that position and I know we have options there, but you asked about Brett, I think Brett's doing a really good job and he's got a lot of versatility." Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson remained confident that Toth could handle the spot but was relieved that Dickerson wasn't necessarily expected to remain sidelined deep into the season. "It was alarming, but I'm glad we got a good-case scenario," Johnson said. "Make no mistake, Landon's one of the, if not, the best guard in football." Toth, who played at Army, has had three stints with the Eagles and spent a bulk of that time on the practice squad. "H's a really smart individual, really good with the detail of the game," Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo said. "He understands a lot of positions, which is great to have a guy like that that can line up in multiple spots and be able to step in if something happens. So I think that's the biggest thing he brings and I think he's been in the system for a while." Reporting by The Associated Press. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? 'I hope' - Blackburn Rovers star makes honest admission over competition
Balazs Toth is hoping to nail down the Blackburn Rovers number one shirt after making a strong start to pre-season. The Hungarian shot-stopper ended last season as Valerien Ismael's goalkeeper and that has continued after the summer. Though Aynsley Pears has been injured, the expectation is that Toth will begin 2025/26 in goal. That seemed unlikely as recently as March, when Toth had only been given two Championship appearances. But his run in the side at the end of last season allowed him to show his quality. The 27-year-old's confidence has visibly grown and his performances saw him rewarded with a first cap for his country over the summer. READ MORE: Now he's hoping that a strong pre-season will allow him to establish himself as Blackburn Rovers' number one. "Yes, it was a really good end of the season, especially for me and for the team also," Toth said. "I was lucky to jump into the team before six or seven games at the end of the season. After that, I got my first cap in the national team. "It was a proud moment for me and for my family also. In the pre-season, I got many opportunities to show my quality. I'm grateful for it and I hope that I will get the chance in the Championship also. "Today, I gave my first assist to Pape, so that was a really good day for me. Yes, I've worked really hard for it and I hope I will get the reward for that. I hope I will get the number one jersey." Toth has kept clean sheets in two of three pre-season games, with Rovers boasting a 100% record. Results matter little but building momentum and a winning habit certainly does no harm. Reflecting on the Spain camp and victory over Elche, the goalkeeper outlined the excitement internally ahead of the new campaign. "Yes, we did enjoy it as a team. We didn't get any day off, so we worked really hard. We played two tough games the week before we played against Everton," he continued. "It's like in the Championship because we play on Saturday, Tuesday and Friday. It was a tough week. "You see the results. We got the reward because we put a lot of hard work into the session. We got the reward because we won against Qatar and now against Elche. It was a very tough game because they kept possession and they were really, really good. We won the game, so it was a good game for us. "It's always nice to win the game. As we spoke about the changes before the game, we just keep pushing and trying to keep this winning mentality. "We have one more game next week and after that, we start finally. I couldn't wait for the start." On the travelling fans, he added: "It's brilliant. Our fans, to be honest, I've never met brilliant fans like them. It's amazing that more than 100 or 200 people came out to watch our games and to help us to win these games. "Without them, we wouldn't have won the game."

Plane crash victim identified by flying club
A Winnipeg man who shared his passion for flying through his YouTube channel has been identified as the sole victim of a plane crash. Peter Toth, who had recently earned his pilot's licence, was confirmed as the victim in the weekend crash by his flying club. 'It is with great sadness that we learned today of the passing of one our most active chapter 63 members,' read a post on the Experimental Aircraft Association Winnipeg Chapter 63 Facebook page. 'Peter Toth loved working on our Emeraude and on his Challenger II, and more recently flying his Challenger. He had only recently received his pilot licence, and continued his training by getting his seaplane rating. Let's remember him by this photo, Peter flying his Quad City Challenger II, doing what he loved. 'Blue skies, and tailwinds, my friend.' Toth's privately registered Quad City Challenger II ultralight aircraft crashed in a field about 20 kilometres east of Winnipeg in the Rural Municipality of Springfield, the Canada's Transportation Safety Board said Sunday. The aircraft collided with terrain in a field near Dugald at approximately 10:50 a.m., the federal agency said. It dispatched two investigators to the area on Sunday. The pilot was the sole occupant onboard the two-seater plane, they said. A Manitoba RCMP spokesperson said Oakbank RCMP responded to the crash at around 11 a.m. on Saturday. Toth's YouTube page said he acquired his licence in 2024, but had loved flying long before that and enjoyed tinkering with his aircraft. 'Join me as I rebuild and upgrade a Challenger II, and learn to fly,' the description of his account said. 'Yes, I got the airplane before I got my pilot's licence. I consider it motivation to finally realize a lifelong dream of flying. Adventures await in 2024, as this is the year I take flight as a licensed pilot, in my airplane, and start to explore.'
