Premier League clarifies why no Boxing Day fixtures are scheduled
The Premier League has clarified that there could still be fixtures scheduled for Boxing Day this season. All games for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign were revealed at 9AM on Thursday morning, with Manchester United's clash at home to Arsenal the pick of the matches for the opening weekend. However, fans were quick to spot that all games for Matchweek 18 are scheduled for December 27, meaning that there would be no matches held on Boxing Day this year. The Premier League has reiterated its commitment to allowing players ample time to recover in between games over the busy winter period. But it has also confirmed that matches on December 27 can still be moved to Boxing Day for live broadcast selection.
