Aaron Dessner produced the LP alongside Spencer Stewart. 'Tough Luck,' which leads the album, is 'a fiery song about love gone wrong,' Laufey said in press materials. 'I wanted to reveal an angrier side of myself—a side that this unfortunate relationship brought out in me.' Listen to that below. Of the album, Laufey added, 'People expect a pretty facade of girly clothes, fantastical stories, and romantic music. Laufey and Suki Waterhouse announce tour, MSG show. Get tickets today

Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase. Featured pricing is subject to change. Laufey is debuting her third studio album in style. The Icelandic jazz vocalist just announced she'll be taking her record 'A Matter of Time' to arenas and amphitheaters this fall with co-headliner Suki Waterhouse. That includes not one, not two, not three but four (!) New York shows. Prior to the tour, Laufey has three smaller solo gigs in NY before teaming up with Waterhouse. These shows go down at Chautauqua's Chautauqua Amphitheater on Saturday, Aug. 2 & Sunday, Aug. 3 and Saratoga Springs' Broadview Stage at Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Aug. 9. Then, once the 'A Matter of Time Tour' officially takes off, the pair will share the stage at NYC's Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Oct. 15. 'Cannot wait to welcome you to the world of #AMatterofTime,' the 26-year-old shared on Instagram. 'A Matter of Time' hits shelves Aug. 22. Ahead of the record's release, Laufey has dropped a pair of singles, the beguiling, lo-fi 'Tough Luck' and lilting, smoldering 'Silver Lining,' which sounds like a throwback to midcentury standards. As for Waterhouse, she's remained prolific after releasing her sophomore 'Memoir of a Sparklemuffin' last September. This year alone, she's dropped the elegant rocker 'Dream Woman' and dusty Stevie Nicks-esque 'On This Love.' Fans Lauvers can purchase tickets for all upcoming Laufey shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the 'A Matter of Time Tour' is Friday, June 6. Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand. They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event. Laufey tour schedule 2025 A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, whether or not Suki Waterhouse will be performing with Laufey and links to buy tickets can be found below. 'Good Looking' Laufey new music This forthcoming record will allegedly be a departure from Laufey's jazzy sound toward something rawer. Her first singles — 'Tough Luck' and 'Silver Lining' — hold true to that axiom. They're both wrapped in gorgeous arrangements but are a bit more confessional and in line with the Taylor Swift/Olivia Rodrigo singer-songwriter mold. Want to hear for yourself? Click here to check out both tracks. Suki Waterhouse new music Thus far, Waterhouse has dropped a pair singles in 2025. Both 'Dream Woman' and 'On This Love' have a time capsule-like quality that transports listeners back to late 20th century Trip-Hop in the tradition of Portishead or Massive Attack. We'd argue they're equally indelible and repeat ready. To take a closer look, you can find these songs as well as everything else Suki Waterhouse has released over the course of her career here. Laufey's 'Tough Luck' Lyrics Are Her Version of Crashing Out

Laufey's buttery smooth vocals have been keeping fans fed for a few years now, and the singer-songwriter is putting them to work on her latest single, 'Tough Luck.' While the Grammy winner gained traction thanks to her efforts in bringing classical and jazz music to a new generation, she's fusing her signature sound with an alternative pop flair on her upcoming album, A Matter of Time, which drops on August 22. She's seemingly introducing new musical elements for a modern touch, and we're totally here for it. According to Laufey (pronounced Lay-Vay), 'Tough Luck' is her version of crashing out after a breakup from a toxic ex. 'I wanted to reveal an angrier side of myself—a side that this unfortunate relationship brought out in me,' she shared in a statement ahead of the song's release. So, without further ado, let's dive into Laufey's 'Tough Luck' lyrics and their potential meaning. Lyrics provided by Genius [Verse 1]Are you tired? I can tell that you're tiredYour eyes turn gray, you beg me to be silentYou said I can't read your mindBut I'm reading it just fineYou think you're so misunderstoodThe black cat of your neighborhood From the jump, Laufey reveals her discomfort in the relationship and describes the tension with her (soon-to-be ex) partner. [Chorus]Tough luck, my boy, your time is upI'll break it first, I've had enoughOf waiting 'til you lie and cheatJust like you did to the actress before meOops, she doesn't even knowYou won't be missed, I'm glad to see you go Okay, not her casually spilling tea on this chorus. While he hasn't cheated or lied (yet, anyway), she jumps the gun before he even has a chance. According to a fan-made Reddit thread, the song could potentially refer to Charlie Christi as he was previously tied to Maude Apatow (who... is an actress, for what it's worth). This detail hasn't been confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. [Post-Chorus]Tough luck, tough luck[Verse 2]Since we're spilling secretsDoes your mothеr even know? (Mother еven know)You demoralized, effaced meJust to feed your frail ego (Oh)When you're screaming at the TVCussing out opposing football teamsYou said I'd never understandThe things that make a man a man The digs keep coming in the second verse, as she brings his mom into their argument. Would she proud of the man who stands before Laufey (and seemingly screws her over)? Signs point to 'no.' [Chorus] [Bridge] I should congratulate theeFor so nearly convincing meI'm not quite as smart as I seemThat I'm a loud-mouthed nobodyMy accent and music are dumbYour tattoos are no better, hunThe proof says you're tragic as fuckThe truth is that's just tough, tough luck (Tough luck)Tough, tough luck (Tough luck)Tough, tough luck (Tough, tough luck)(Tough, tough luck) Our girl is coming for blood on this bridge. Perhaps she put it best when she teased the song on TikTok: 'God forbid a girl crashes out through song for once.' [Chorus]
