Lewis Capaldi's drummer left 'in floods of tears' after his Glastonbury comeback
Singer Lewis Capaldi made a huge return to the spotlight last month as he performed a secret set at Glastonbury after taking two years away from music for his health Lewis Capaldi has revealed his drummer was left in tears after he made his sensational return to Glastonbury. The chart-topping singer, 28, performed a secret set at Worthy Farm this year, which came two years on from him struggling with Tourettes at the festival. He made a huge comeback for a 35-minute show on the iconic Pyramid Stage, marking his return to performing after a two year break. Lewis confessed he had planned to quit music all together despite his huge success after his show at Glastonbury in 2023. In a change of heart, Lewis agreed to head back to the world famous festival and despite it being a secret set, he told his fans in advance as he was worried nobody would turn up. 'I'm not great at keeping secrets, I wanted it to be a surprise, but we had to start leaking it out a couple of weeks before because it would have been strange to come out to an empty field," he confessed on the Apple Music's Music That Soothes Me series. 'By that weekend it was the worst-kept secret. It was genuinely the best day of my life, I loved every moment of it." Revealing just how emotional the moment was for him, Lewis added: 'Almost immediately, I was overcome with emotion and I started to well up, so I was like, 'get it together', but then I turned around and looked at my drummer, and he was in floods of tears. 'It was weird, I knew it was going to be fine this time around. I had nerves and butterflies, but it wasn't the same as 2023 when I was so stressed and I knew something bad was going to happen. It was spectacular.' While on the iconic stage, Lewis performed his new tune titled Survive. The deeply personal track about his mental health struggles and recovery sees the singer urge fans to access the same type of support he had on his road to recovery. Speaking of his 2023 Pyramid Stage performance, Lewis said: "I was on complete autopilot. I watch it back and I feel sad. I wasn't taking anything in." He thanked those helping him through it, saying they "made it a much less embarrassing moment". Lewis added: "The thing that I wanted to do the most has made me feel the worst. It was like a weird mix of emotions." He went on on say that while others see the clip from the day as uplifting as the crowd helped him through, he sees it as him "just having literally the worst moment of his life". In the chat with BetterHelp, filmed days before his surprise return, Lewis added how he thought he was "done indefinitely" with the music industry. He said: "I didn't take a break to just focus on getting better, I took a break because I needed a break and to sort of like release the pressure valve a little bit." Lewis added: "Therapy has been a massive part of the reason why I'm able to be a musician again. This feels such a positive way to help others access the type of support I needed.'

Lewis Capaldi confesses to 'convulsing' backstage during worst panic attack as he admits 'breakdown' at Glastonbury 2023 was the 'most important day of his life'
Lewis Capaldi has reflected on his lowest moments as he admitted how bad his panic attacks got prior to his 'breakdown' on stage at Glastonbury back in 2023. The Scottish hitmaker, 28, reduced fans to tears after he returned to Worthy Farm for a surprise set last month following a two-year hiatus to focus on his mental health and 'adjust' to his Tourette's diagnosis. And now Lewis has revealed he saw his return to the festival as a 'mental win' as he candidly spoke about his struggles on the latest episode of This Past Weekend podcast with Theo Von. The singer confessed he had an episode far worse than his Glastonbury 2023 performance as he explained: 'A few weeks prior to that show we were playing in Chicago and I had a very similar episode - it was probably even worse. 'I couldn't come back and finish a song. I was backstage convulsing and having this crazy panic attack and mental episode. Way worse than what happened at Glastonbury. 'Because Glastonbury is such a big stage, it was the first time people outside my shows had seen it. At Glastonbury, when I came off stage it was weird, I had this (feeling) "everything's alright now, I can actually go and get help and fix myself for the next two years".' He continued: 'In a weird way, it's probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. I wouldn't have stopped otherwise. 'I was really bad for not saying no to things. Feeling like "Oh this is going to pass me by if I don't say yes. All this amazing stuff's coming at me now and I have to catch it all and get it all done, otherwise these moments are going to pass me by and it's never going to happen again". 'So, Glastonbury 2023 was, for sure, really important - maybe the most important day in my life. 'Someone upstairs was like "this has to happen now otherwise..." I don't want to think of where I would be now if I'd continued. 'We were meant to go to Australia. It could have been really, really horrible. I dread to think what would have happened.' Prior to his Glastonbury return last month Lewis also released brand new track Survive, which details his difficult two years - and it's been a huge hit with millions of fans across the country as it topped the charts. Speaking about his return to the festival Lewis added: 'I really wanted to come back and do Glastonbury as like a mental win – finish the thing that I couldn't finish before.' During his two year hiatus Lewis has undergone a lot of therapy and worked on coming to terms and dealing with his Tourette's. He has also reduced his alcohol intake, prioritised his fitness and swapped antidepressants for anti-psychotic meds that finally worked. He continued: 'I do therapy every week which has been really beneficial for me. That's really maybe the biggest thing that's switched everything around.' 'This is what's great about my current therapist. He can sense when I'm being avoidant. He pulls me back in and is saying "there's a reason you're being wishy washy here'"'. The star also revealed he has come off anti-depressants and switched to antipsychotic medication. 'It was really scary when they offered it. Antipsychotic? I'm like 'I'm not psychotic'. It's changed my life. Anxiety levels are so low these days. I don't feel the stress.' And Lewis is back with a bang with his comeback tour selling out in seconds earlier this month. The star is set to perform 17 dates across the UK and Ireland in September as he returns to the stage two years after taking a break for his mental health. His dedicated fans had every single ticket in their baskets by one second past 9am, Lewis revealed, so the star added extra dates - but even those shows sold out in record time, with the tour being his 'fastest selling ever'.

Due to high ticket demand Lewis announced a whopping seven extra dates. But, even with the extra dates fans have struggled to get tickets and his tour is now officially sold out. And now the Someone You Loved hitmaker has taken to Instagram to reveal that no more dates will be added. In caption alongside a pic of the sell out tour, he penned: 'Honestly didn't expect this at all… genuinely had no idea what to expect after taking a break for so long so by seeing this tour sell out faster than any tour i've ever played is the most incredible surreal feeling. 'Thank you to every single one of you who got a ticket and i'm very sorry to any of you who wanted to come and missed out this time. There won't be any other shows for now, want to make sure I don't push myself too far too soon. means more than ya know how many of you were waiting to get tickets this morning x' Some fans who didn't manage to secure their tickets have been left saddened by the news and took to the comments to express their disappointment. Lewis Capaldi makes emotional Glastonbury speech as he returns to festival two years after breakdown One user said: ' I was gutted not to secure any tickets but I'd much rather you keep recovering and you stay healthy!' 'Chuffed for you but GUTTED I couldn't get any (sad face emoji),' chimed another. 'Will sell a kidney for two tickets ? Any takers,' a third joked. A fourth commented: 'I'm gutted that despite preordering the album & being member for another presale that I wasn't able to get any tickets. "I know it's not your fault but it's so frustrating seeing them all listed for resale when genuine fans miss out. I wish I could be there! (heart emoji).' Lewis recently opened up about his troubling 2023 Glastonbury set, in which he couldn't sing after struggling with Tourettes and anxiety from which he then took a two-year hiatus. Lewis says the performance was a wake-up call after neglecting his mental and physical health for years. He told The Sun at the time: "I think I probably knew two songs into the set at Glastonbury that I couldn't do it. "I was on stage and I was on complete autopilot. In my head I was feeling a thousand miles away and I watched it back and I feel sad. As far as I was concerned, I was done indefinitely. "I didn't take a break to just focus on getting better. I took a break because I needed a break to release the pressure value a little bit." He said he's no longer taking antidepressant Sertraline after successfully battling his demons and has learned to accept he will always have some level of anxiety. He revealed: 'I am doing much better. I'm not on antidepressants any more.' 5 The Someone You Loved hitmaker revealed that no more dates will be added to his tour Credit: Splash 5 Some fans who didn't manage to secure their tickets have been left saddened by the news Credit: Ruckas

He will hit the road later this year on a 17-date UK tour following his incredible comeback at Glastonbury. Fans snapped up sought after briefs through official channels for between £32.25 and £111.70. But tickets have appeared on ticket resale sites with prices far in excess of the original cost. The chart-topper from Whitburn, West Lothian, admitted performing at stadiums would be "terrifying" after disappointed fans failed to secure tickets. It follows the star's troubling 2023 Glastonbury set, in which he couldn't sing after struggling with Tourettes and anxiety. Many took to social media to question why the singer isn't playing higher-capacity venues. He wrote on social media today: "Saw a couple of people mention bigger venues, honestly after taking the break, it's impossible to know how many of ya might want to come to not come to shows. Lewis Capaldi makes surprise appearance at Noah Kahan gig at BST Hyde Park show "Also looking at even bigger venues (stadiums probably the only option which is mental haha) would be the most terrifying thing ever for me, coming back straight into venues 4/5 times the size of an area would definitely not be the best thing for me to try. "Hope you all understand, I really do want to see as many of you as I possibly can and your support means the world." Capaldi will be performing in Sheffield, Aberdeen, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff and Dublin from September 6 to September 30. Ticketmaster was approached for comment.
