Marina Roman Theater Reopens with Major Renovation
The Roman Theater in Marina Alamein is set to officially reopen this coming Friday, following comprehensive renovation and restoration works that aim to revive its historic role as a cultural and entertainment landmark on Egypt's North Coast.
According to Eng. Mohamed Khalafallah, Head of the Tourist Villages Authority, the theater will serve as a vibrant gateway for artistic and recreational activities across Marina's various districts. The venue now includes a tourist hotel with 24 rooms, an indoor cinema, and a beachfront area with facilities for children and families. The main auditorium can accommodate up to 6,000 people, making it one of the largest open-air venues in the region.
In a statement to Youm7, Khalafallah confirmed that a series of celebrations will kick off on July 11, in line with the Ministry of Housing's strategic plan to enhance the cultural footprint of Marina and restore the Roman Theater's status as a leading artistic venue.
The development also includes parking areas, weekly shows, family-oriented entertainment, and events throughout the summer season. Oversight of the renovation works is being conducted under the direction of the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, with a focus on improving services and enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors of Egypt's coastal tourist villages.
Khalafallah noted that the redevelopment project was awarded to a private company under a usufruct (right-of-use) agreement, ensuring efficient management and operation while maximizing investment potential and safeguarding public assets.
The Marina Roman Theater has a rich legacy, having hosted legendary Arab artists such as Amr Diab, Nancy Ajram, and Kadim Al Sahir. Its return is expected to boost cultural tourism and reposition Marina Alamein as a top destination for entertainment and recreation in the region.
