Construction season brings lane reductions and closures to Alliston
Residents in Alliston will have to pack their patience as work gets underway on a project that means disruptions this summer.
The Town of New Tecumseth is replacing the sanitary sewer on Victoria Street East, between McDonald and Boyne Streets, starting next week on July 2.
Traffic Woes
During the day, the Town says traffic will be reduced to one lane with temporary traffic lights in place. At night, the road will reopen to two-way traffic.
It's important to note, traffic lights on Victoria and Boyne Streets will be out of operation during the construction.
Due to the road work, McDonald Street will be temporarily closed until August 1.
Driveway Access
The Town says access to driveways inside the work zone may be disrupted at times, but construction crews will work to minimize the inconvenience.
Residents requiring special accommodations that could be impacted by the driveway access interruptions are encouraged to contact the Town Project Manager.
Curbside Collection
Residents should place their waste and recycling bins, clearly labelled with the property address, at the end of their driveway before 7 a.m. on their collection day. The Town says road crews will relocate the bins so they can be accessed by waste collection crews.
Service Interruptions
Services, such as phone, cable TV and gas shouldn't be affected by the road work, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Town says. If there are expected disruptions, residents will receive proper notice.
The sewer replacement and repaving of the road is expected to be completed by August 1.
