People Truly Can't Believe The Location This Republican Senator Chose To Film Her "Apology"

I'm sure you've heard of Iowa Senator Joni Ernst's "we all are going to die" thing. She held a townhall on Thursday, and a clip of her comments about SNAP and Medicaid cuts went viral: ABC/dabbs346/Twitter: @dabbs346 Someone from the crowd shouted, "People are going to die," and Joni responded, "Well, we all are going to die." FWIW, The Hill reported she went on to say that Republicans would protect Medicaid for "the most vulnerable." She also said, "SNAP overpayments that the states have been making will need to stop," and "When you are arguing about illegals that are receiving Medicaid benefits, 1.4 million, they're not eligible, so they will be coming off." ANYWAY, this whole thing kind of blew up. People are calling this "one of the worst politician quotes" they've ever heard. And people are joking: "New GOP slogan: 'We're all gonna die!'" Related: 18 Major Global Events That American Media Is Ignoring Right Now, And Why They Actually Matter To Us Sooo, we're on round two from that. Senator Ernst decided to issue an "apology" that isn't really an apology at all. joniernst/Twitter: @keithedwards "Hello everyone, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely apologize for a statement that I made yesterday at my town hall," she said. "See, I was in the process of answering a question that was asked by an audience member when a woman who was extremely distraught screamed out from the back of the auditorium, 'People are going to die.' And I made an incorrect assumption that everyone in the auditorium understood that, yes, we are all going to perish from this earth." "So, I apologize, and I'm really, really glad that I did not have to bring up the subject of the tooth fairy as well. But for those that would like to see eternal and everlasting life, I encourage you to embrace my Lord and savior Jesus Christ." Related: "I Am So Torn With What You Are Doing" — 11 Posts From MAGA Business Owners Who Are So Close To Getting It Yeaaah, people are unpacking this one. "I'm at a loss for words..." one person said. Another person encouraged her to keep digging in, "Keep posting through it Joni you're almost there." And this person joked, "Leave the tooth fairy out of this, you monster." But the #1 thing people can't believe is the location where she recorded it. It appears that she's walking through a cemetery. "I'm sorry... is she walking through a cemetery as she makes this?" one person asked. Another person said, "No way that Joni Ernst apology video can be real is she in a cemetery." And this person gave her a new nickname: "Senator Grim Reaper." Thoughts? Isham Jalil awaits July 1 contempt ruling over judiciary remarks on Najib's SRC, 1MDB trials

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — Former Umno information chief Isham Jalil will know on July 1 whether he will be held in contempt of court over remarks allegedly undermining public confidence in the judiciary. High Court judge K. Muniandy fixed the date after hearing submissions in the committal proceedings filed by the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC), according to New Straits Times. Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustaffa P Kunyalam argued, 'The respondent has tarnished the judiciary's reputation when he questioned the actions and decision of the Federal Court and the High Court involving both 1MDB and SRC International criminal cases.' He said Isham's comments posed a real risk of eroding public trust in the justice system. Isham's lawyer Tan Sri Azizan Harun contended that the statements were not made with the intent to bring the court into disrepute. Azizan also said the AGC failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that his client's actions amounted to contempt. He added that the grounds raised during the hearing differed from those stated during the initial application, leaving Isham unclear on how to mount a proper defence. 'The courts must be strong enough to withstand criticism and should not overreact, especially in today's social media era where everyone is free to express their opinions,' Azizan said. He questioned why Isham could not express views similar to those raised by Datuk Seri Najib Razak's lawyers during court proceedings. The AGC filed the application on December 28, 2023, based on Isham's remarks in an interview titled 'Townhall For Justice: Keadilan Sebenarnya Untuk Siapa? (Who is Justice Really For?)' The interview, which included criticism of Najib's corruption trial and appeal related to 1MDB and SRC International Sdn Bhd, was posted on the Facebook page of The Malaya Post on September 30, 2023.

Drills done, Delhi prepared to tackle disaster

NEW DELHI: The national capital on Wednesday successfully conducted mock drills at 55 locations across its 11 revenue districts, as part of the 'Operation Abhyaas' exercise aimed at testing the city's disaster preparedness and response capabilities in a crisis situation. Under the nationwide mega civil defence mock drill, prompted by the ongoing Indo-Pak tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people, mock drills simulating multiple hostile scenarios like air raids, multiple fire emergencies, and search and rescue operations, among others, were carried out. The drills were conducted in key locations including schools, government offices, busy markets, malls, airports and other critical areas. The exercise commenced around 4 pm with loud sirens signalling the start of the mock emergency scenarios. Emergency response teams, including PCR vans, fire tenders, ambulances and other first responders, were present at the drill locations. Dog squads were also deployed to assist in the exercises. Notably, the fire tenders also sprayed water at the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) areas. Key locations where the drills were held included Khan Market, Lajpat Nagar Central Market, Townhall in Chandni Chowk, Select City Mall in Saket, and Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh. At the Townhall in Chandni Chowk, one of the city's busiest markets, a simulated airstrike was set up, with a building collapse scenario that trapped several people. During the exercise, one person was declared dead, two sustained serious injuries and one person suffered a fracture. Emergency teams worked to rescue and treat the injured, with a temporary hospital set up at the site to provide immediate medical care.
