Body of Saudi boy who fell into river in Turkiye recovered
BEIRUT: Search and rescue teams in Turkiye recovered the body of a nine-year-old Saudi boy on Saturday morning, six days after he reportedly fell into Haldizen Creek in Uzungol region. The Saudi Embassy in Turkiye confirmed in a statement on X that the body of the boy was recovered following extensive searches by Turkish rescue teams over the past few days, and that the required procedures are underway in coordination with the family and the pertinent authorities. The boy, who media reports have identified as Faysal Ramzi Al-Sheikh, is believed to have been spending a holiday with his family in Trabzon province when he went missing. It was reported that he was beside one of the steep banks of the creek when he slipped into the river due to heavy rainfalls which had upped the level of the river water. In its statement on X, the Saudi Embassy said: 'May God have mercy on him … the embassy, in coordination with his family and the competent Turkish authorities, will complete the required procedures.' It expressed its deep condolences to the family, adding it 'sincerely thanks the Turkish authorities for their great efforts in searching for the deceased … and recovering his body.'

Body of Saudi boy swept away in Turkey river found after massive search
The body of a 9-year-old boy, who was swept away by high waters in Haldizen River in Turkey's Uzungol region three days ago, has been found, according to media reports. The recovery of the body followed a massive search operation. A statement from Trabzon Governorate said the child, Faisal, who belonged to Saudi Arabia, was found in the Haldizen River, 2.2 metres below the water's surface. The media reports added that the Embassy in Türkiye has offered its condolences to Faisal's family. It also expressed gratitude to various authorities for coordinating the search. Earlier, Saudi Arabia's embassy in Turkey, in response to social media posts about the incident, had on Wednesday stated that it was in contact with the family of the child, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) had reported. The embassy said that since the first moments of the incident, it contacted 'the relevant Turkish authorities…that are conducting extensive searches in the area and its surroundings in order to locate the child.' Trabzon local authorities deployed more than 100 search and rescue teams, including volunteers, citizens, civil defense, and health teams, to locate the nine-year-old boy, who was swept away by the river during a family holiday. A video showing Faisal playing football with his father on the same day he fell in the river went viral on social media, with people praying for his safe return. The tragic accident occurred while the boy was on a trip with his family to a tourist area near the river, when heavy rains fell, causing him to disappear.

ANKARA: The Saudi Arabian Embassy in Turkiye confirmed on Wednesday that it is coordinating with Turkish authorities to search for a Saudi child who reportedly fell into Haldizen Creek in Uzungol region. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the embassy issued a statement clarifying the reports circulating in media outlets and across social media platforms regarding the incident in Trabzon province. 'From the first moments of the incident, the embassy coordinated with the child's family and contacted the relevant Turkish authorities to investigate the incident,' the statement said. 'The authorities have responded and are gratefully conducting extensive searches in the area and its surrounding to locate the child. We ask God Almighty to crown these efforts with success and to protect everyone from all harm,' it added.
