‘Rainbow bridge' project for TAPS to offer pet owners a place of remembrance
PEKIN, Ill. (WMBD) — An animal shelter in Tazewell County hopes that a memorial for pets who have died will give peace their owners but also offer a chance to remember and honor those animals.
A Facebook post for TAPS in Pekin said the agency is 'creating a beautiful tribute to honor the pets who have given us unconditional love. This serene memorial space, made possible by the generosity of the Tracy Taylor Family and Friends, will be a place of remembrance and love.'
The area will be located on the TAPS property and give pet owners a 'a special space to honor the memory of your beloved companions. The project is brought to life through the generosity of the Taylor Family and Friends, whose startup funding has laid the foundation for the project.'
The center will build a rainbow bridge memorial and people can help support the effort by buying bricks. There are discounted prices until April 1. For more information on brick buying, click here.
The kick-off event will be March 15 at the Bella Ball, which will be held at the Premier Event and Entertainment Center in Peoria which was formerly known as the Landmark Recreational Center on Dries Lane.
