Create Account Trang Pham of Mississauga is adding another $250,000 to her back account after winning the top prize with the Instant Golden Multiplier scratch ticket game. Yes, another. Pham was also the winner of a $60-million Lotto Max jackpot earlier this year, which she split with four of her former co-workers. The retiree has been playing the lottery with OLG since she could legally purchase a ticket and January's win hasn't stopped her from buying more. 'I was shopping at an outlet mall and got thirsty, so I stopped at a nearby gas station to grab a bottle of water,' Pham recounted while collecting her latest winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. 'While I was there, I ended up buying a couple of tickets.' Read More This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Pham didn't scratch her ticket until the following day while sitting in her car. 'I uncovered the top prize and realized it was a winning ticket,' she said. 'Then I scanned it using the OLG app on my phone — and there it was: $250,000! I was so happy and excited.' She called her husband, who was 'surprise and overjoyed' to learn of her latest win, as well as a few friends who were 'shocked but thrilled' for the lucky lady. It was also Pham's idea to buy the eventual winning ticket for the Jan. 21 Lotto Max draw in honour of the traditions of the Lunar New Year. RECOMMENDED VIDEO She heard on the news that the winning ticket was sold in Etobicoke, checked it and realized it was theirs. 'When I saw $60 million on the screen, I was in total shock,' she said of confirming the numbers on the OLG app at the time. 'I took a screenshot and sent it to the group chat right away.' That's when Pham's phone started 'blowing up.' After the Lotto Max win, Pham said she wanted to buy a home and invest some of the winnings, while also sharing it with her parents. With her latest win, she plans to pay bills and indulge in some well-deserved travel. As for winning the lottery twice, Pham called it 'unbelievable.' She added: 'It feels like I was struck by lightning twice in one year. You have to give yourself a smack just to make sure it's real!' Celebrity Toronto & GTA Columnists Editorial Cartoons NFL

These Canadians won big lotto prizes more than once. What are the odds?

The odds of winning the Lotto 6/49 $5 million Classic Draw are one in 13,983,816. (Richard Plume / The Canadian Press) Winning the lotto jackpot is rare, but luck has struck more than once for some people. Trang Pham is among the latest winners who have won substantial prizes repeatedly. The woman from Mississauga, Ont., took home $12 million after splitting the $60-million Lotto Max with four of her colleagues in January and recently collected $250,000 from playing the Instant Golden Multiplier game. 'It feels like I was struck by lightning twice in one year,' Pham said in a news release. 'You have to give yourself a smack just to make sure it's real.' A Cape Breton couple is also part of the small club of repeat winners of big prizes. Raymond and Gaye Lillington of Dingwall, N.L., won $17.4 million in 2020 from Lotto 6/49 after winning $3.2 million in 2013. Jason Brown, a professor of mathematics and statistics at Halifax's Dalhousie University, previously told CTV News Atlantic in 2020 that based on his calculations, the chance of winning the Lotto 6/49 jackpot twice in seven years is about four in 10 billion for a person who buys a ticket each week. Brown confirmed to on Friday that he believes his calculations are still accurate. Michael Wallace, associate professor in the department of statistics and natural science at the University of Waterloo, told earlier this year that the odds of winning even one of the big prizes are 'small' regardless of which numbers, games or strategies you choose. 'I would always say, if you're going to play a lottery like this, play it for fun,' Wallace said. 'Don't play it expecting to win one of those really big prizes. You might, but it's very, very unlikely.' Despite the slim odds, here are some of the people who have repeatedly won big lotto prizes in Canada: Alberta man scores $300K in one year James Hill of Lethbridge, Alta., won twice this year alone: $200,000 on a $10 scratch ticket he bought in February, and $100,000 on a Poker Lotto scratch ticket from May. Ontario man scores two big wins in under a month Ryaan Othman of Brampton, Ont., won $1 million in Encore for the Lotto Max draw in January 2023. Three weeks earlier on Dec. 28, 2022, he collected $180,000 playing Lotto Max. 'I knew the odds of this happening were slim, but for it to happen twice is out of this world!' he said at the time. Quebec woman lucky in one week Sylvie Bertrand of Outaouais, Que., won $132,000 in total as reported in February. She took home $32,000 through the game show La Poule aux oeufs d'or on Jan. 26, and a house prize of $100,000 from a La Poule aux oeufs d'or ticket online in February. Mississauga woman wins another lotto jackpot after previously splitting $60M win alongside her co-workers

Trang Pham has won a second lottery prize this year, after previously winning a $60 million jackpot alongside her co-workers. (OLG) A Mississauga woman who won $60 million alongside her co-workers earlier this year has once again hit the jackpot. In a news release, OLG says Trang Pham has added another $250,000 to her bank account after winning a top prize with the Instant Golden Multiplier game. 'It's unbelievable,' Pham said. 'It feels like I was struck by lightning twice in one year. You have to give yourself a smack just to make sure it's real.' Pham had purchased a Lotto Max ticket for her and four of her co-workers in January of this year in honour of the Lunar New Year. The group won the $60 million jackpot, and each took home $12 million. Now a retiree, Pham said she purchased her latest winning ticket on a whim. 'I was shopping at an outlet mall and got thirsty, so I stopped at a nearby gas station (in Hornby) to grab a bottle of water. While I was there, I ended up buying a couple of tickets.' She played the ticket the next morning in her car and discovered she was in possession of another winning one. Pham told OLG she has been playing the lottery since she was old enough to purchase tickets. She said she plans to pay bills and travel with her latest winnings.
