Egypt, Mali discuss developmental, parliamentary cooperation
CAIRO – 26 January 2025: Ambassador to Bamako Mohamed al-Gammal met Speaker of the Transitional National Council in Mali Malick Diaw to discuss cooperation opportunities on the political, security, developmental and cultural levels, stressing the importance of pushing forward bilateral parliamentary and legislative collaboration.
The ambassador also affirmed Egypt's persistent support to Mali on the front of combating terrorism. On his side, the Speaker expressed interest in cooperation on legislations and parliamentary affairs necessary during the current transition period.
To follow up on the outcomes of his latest visit to Cairo in December, Ambassador to Mali Mohamed Gamal met with Minister of National Defense Sadio Camara, as the two sides had signed an MoU to further strengthen military cooperation.
The ambassador stressed that Egypt would persist consolidating the capabilities of the Malian army in the face of different challenges, mainly terrorism. On his side, the minister described Egypt as a trustworthy partner, saying that the bilateral collaboration would reflect positively on mutual interests and regional stability.
