Sudan Sovereign Council Appoints Acting Prime Minister
Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council on Wednesday announced a minor reshuffle in the Sudanese government, particularly in the ministries of cabinet affairs, foreign affairs and education. In a statement, the Council said that the Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, appointed Dafallah Al-Haj Ali as the country's Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Acting Prime Minister. Ali is a veteran diplomat who once served as Sudan's representative to the UN and was most recently the country's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, according to Agence France Presse (AFP). Moreover, Al-Burhan appointed Omar Seddik as Sudan's Foreign Minister. Seddik is a current ambassador and took part in the negotiations between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Jeddah last year. Al-Burhan also approved the appointment of Al-Tohami Al-Zain Hajar as the Education Minister. This move comes as the SAF recaptured most parts of Sudan's capital, Khartoum, in March, after two years of fighting against the RSF. The devastating conflict has divided the country in two, with the SAF controlling the center, north and east, and the RSF holding almost all of the western Darfur region and parts of the south. In February, Al-Burhan said he would form a technocratic wartime government to help 'complete what remains of our military objectives, which is liberating Sudan from these rebels.' Earlier in April, the RSF announced it would form a parallel government, a move that has sparked international concerns that the country could remain split. During the London Conference on Sudan in mid-April, Saudi Arabia's Deputy Foreign Minister, Waleed Al-Khuraiji, condemned attempts to form parallel governments as 'illegitimate,' warning they risk derailing peace efforts and deepening divisions. He insisted solutions must respect Sudan's sovereignty and involve only its legitimate institutions. Short link : Post Views: 42

El-Sisi, Al-Burhan discuss Sudan post-war reconstruction efforts - Foreign Affairs
Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, head of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council (TSC), in Cairo on Monday to discuss Sudan's post-war reconstruction and regional security. El-Sisi personally received Al-Burhan at Cairo Airport before hosting him at the Ittihadiya Palace for an official reception. The leaders then held a private meeting, later joined by delegations from both nations. According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and assessing recent developments in Sudan — particularly the Sudanese army's efforts to retake control of the capital, Khartoum, from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). In March, nearly two years into a brutal internal conflict, Al-Burhan announced that Khartoum had been 'freed' from RSF control following a major military offensive. El-Sisi and Al-Burhan also underscored the urgency of providing humanitarian assistance to civilians trapped in conflict zones. Since the war broke out in April 2023 — triggered by a power struggle over the RSF's integration into the national army — tens of thousands of Sudanese have been killed, and the country has effectively fractured. The army now controls the north and east, while the RSF holds swathes of Darfur in the west and large areas in the south. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional security, with particular focus on the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa. They reaffirmed the strategic alignment of Egyptian and Sudanese national security interests, including a joint stance against unilateral actions on Nile water resources. Both reiterated their commitment to international law and equitable use of the Blue Nile's waters. On the bilateral front, El-Sisi and Al-Burhan agreed to push forward joint projects across key sectors — including electricity interconnection, railway infrastructure, trade, health, agriculture, mining, and cultural and scientific cooperation. The Egyptian presidency said such initiatives aim to deepen economic integration and better harness the countries' shared resources. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Sisi meets Burhan in Cairo to discuss restoring stability in Sudan
DUBAI: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council President Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan met in Cairo on Monday to discuss ways to restore stability and promote development in Sudan. The two leaders also planned to consult on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing various regional issues, Ahram Online reported. Al-Burhan's visit comes amid ongoing conflict in Sudan, where fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces has devastated the country. Al-Burhan declared Khartoum 'free' of RSF control in March after a major military push. The war, which erupted in April 2023 over disputes regarding the RSF's integration into the military, has left tens of thousands dead, with both sides accused of committing atrocities. Sudan remains deeply divided, with the army controlling the north and east, while the RSF holds much of Darfur and parts of the south.
