Preferred location for new Park and Ride facility in Meath revealed
Councillors had requested details regarding the proposed site and timeline for the project.
In Meath County Council's response, they said: 'Ashbourne was identified as one of 13 strategic Park and Rides to be delivered within the Greater Dublin Area in accordance with the Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area 2022-2042.'
The strategy recommended the development of a bus-based Park & Ride facility near Junction 3 of the M2 motorway, which included 350 spaces for Ashbourne.
During the concept development and option selection phase, several potential sites in the vicinity of the junction were considered.
'A preferred site has emerged and the NTA's P&R Design Office team is currently working on the Preliminary Design for the preferred site option. Discussions have also commenced with the landowner."
'If landowner negotiations are successful, it is hoped that the planning process would commence in Q1 2026,' the council added.
