James Norton's ex takes swipe at Happy Valley star after brutal move
Reports of the celebrity couple's split first emerged four days ago, and James Norton already appears to be moving on. James Norton's ex-girlfriend Charlotte Rose Smith appeared to take a savage swipe at the Happy Valley star after reports emerged that he joined the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya just days after their breakup. Charlotte, 26, took to Instagram with a post that many saw as a pointed response to their split. She shared the iconic image of Nicole Kidman gleefully celebrating her divorce from Tom Cruise on her story. This picture is often used to symbolise feeling liberated by a breakup. The same meme has previously been shared by other celebrities, including Jenna Dewan after her divorce from Channing Tatum. Charlotte posted this story shortly after Norton, 39, was reportedly spotted on Raya. The dating app is known for attracting creatives and celebrities, and according to The Sun, the actor has been seen on it with a new profile that features photos of him with a shaved head. Norton buzzed his hair off for his upcoming film Sunny Dancer, which he is currently filming in Scotland alongside The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey. Norton and Charlotte began dating in late 2023 and were seen together on numerous occasions. At the time, an insider told The Sun: "They have been enjoying dates and seem very happy together. It has been a year since his relationship with Imogen ended and he appears to get on so well with Charlotte. They make a lovely couple." While James may be re-entering the dating world, Charlotte seems to be channelling her feelings into her art. She has been posting a series of cryptic TikToks from her London studio. In one recent clip, she declared, "When everything is falling apart I will always have art. Broken heart? Still got my art." In another, she can be seen confidently strutting in a satin dress with the caption: "How I imagine every ex thinks of me." Meanwhile, James appears to be leaning on his family during this difficult time. On a recent episode of the Travel Secrets podcast, he revealed that he is planning a trip to Kenya with his parents, Hugh and Lavinia, and sister Jessica. "It's with my family, which is really lovely," he said. "There's a point you get to in your early twenties...I was lucky enough to look at my mum and dad when we were all adults, and say, 'We get on!' "My dad and I have a grudge match playing chess and we play bridge. My sister has two little boys who are six and four and we have a really nice little family unit. So for the first time, I'm taking them on holiday. We're going to the Masai Mara for some safari. I can't wait to see my little nephews do safari." James was previously engaged to actress Imogen Poots, 35. The couple ended their seven-year relationship in late 2023. While speaking to The Sunday Times after their split, Norton admitted: "Some of the choices recently weren't mine, yet I don't feel begrudging."

James had been starring in A Little Life - a West End adaptation of Hanya Yanagihara's novel which focuses on trauma and abuse - and said he had "given his life" to the role.

The 55-year-old actor, best known for his roles in The Wire and The Crown, has been married to Limerick woman Catherine FitzGerald since 2010. The pair share four children — Dora, Senan, Francis and Christabel — with Dominic having an older daughter, Martha, from a previous relationship. The family now operate the castle as an event venue and hotel, with Kim Kardashian once being refused stay at the location. Last year, Dominic revealed that his mother-in-law, Olda, once refused for Kim Kardashian to stay at Glin Castle when the reality star honeymooned in Ireland with Kanye West. Speaking on the Travel Secrets podcast, Dominic detailed how he and Catherine were shocked when they learned of the potential celebrity guest. Dominic then revealed that Kim and Kanye ended up staying at Ballyfin Demense, a five-star hotel in Laois owner by late American businessman, Fred Krehbiel.
