Man arrested in connection with attempted kidnapping at Great Wolf Lodge: deputies
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an attempted kidnapping at Great Wolf Lodge, deputies with the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office said.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to the Great Wolf Lodge, located in the 500 block of Rochambeau Drive, for reports of an attempted kidnapping and assault of a 7-year-old that occurred earlier in the day.
Deputies then spoke with the family of the 7-year-old victim, who said a man attempted to lure the child away from the pool. When the child attempted to walk away, the suspect prevented the child from leaving the area.
Shortly after this, the family told deputies that the suspect left the pool area.
After viewing surveillance footage, deputies stated they were able to identify the suspect as 46-year-old Travis Andrew Bright, who was listed as a guest at Great Wolf Lodge at the time.
Bright was eventually located and charged with abduction and assault and battery. He is currently being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
Great Wolf Lodge released a statement regarding the incident, which can be read in full below:
