The first Friday of June is celebrated as National Donut Day in the USA annually. Commemorating the 'Donut Lassies' from World War I, the day brings in loads of free donuts and special deals for lovers of the dessert.
In 2025, the first Friday of June is today and various brands are honouring the American history with limited-time treats.

The US has numerous food-related "holidays" including National Hamburger Day and National Wine Day. But out of all of them, National Donut Day has a historical story. The Salvation Army established the first Friday of June as National Donut Day in 1938 to honour the organization's Donut Lassies, women who travelled to France to serve donuts and other snacks to soldiers fighting during World War I.
'National Donut Day is a time to remember the lasting impact of a unique piece of history and to honour the heroic men and women who have served our country,' said The Salvation Army's national commander, Merle Heatwole in an official statement.

June 13: All customers can get a dozen Original Glazed Donuts for 13 cents with the purchase of any dozen at the regular price.
June 20: Get a dozen Original Glazed Donuts for just $2 with the purchase of any dozen at a regular price. Also, multiple customers will be randomly selected at participating shops to win 12 months of free Original Glazed donuts.
