Two dead following Friday night car crash in southeastern Sioux Falls
Two people have died following a car crash May 9 in Sioux Falls, according to a press release from Sioux Falls Police Department Sgt. Travis Olsen.
Emergency responders were dispatched to East 57th Street and South Veterans Parkway around 6:30 p.m., according to the press release.
Investigators determined a 2015 Ford Taurus initiated a left turn onto 57th Street. The vehicle turned in front of an oncoming 2018 GMC Sierra traveling southbound on Veterans Parkway.
A 78-year-old female passenger occupying the Ford Taurus was declared dead at the scene, according to the press release. The 77-year-old male driver was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Each was from Lester, sole occupant of the GMC Sierra, a 35-year-old Harrisburg man, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, according to the press release.
Investigators do not currently know what circumstances led to the crash, or if speed or impairment were factors.
