Breslin Center Ranked Among Top College Basketball Venues
When you think of college basketball, there are just some schools that take it a bit more seriously. So, it's only natural that the teams whose home arenas are some of the best and toughest to win in also happen to be contenders year in and year out, come March Madness. So it's no wonder Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans have made 27-straight NCAA Tournaments, the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Michigan remains one of the best venues in college basketball. Advertisement It should come as no surprise that the Breslin is among the Top 10 on the list. Spartan fans do not disappoint when it comes to packing the Breslin. Not to mention, they have arguably the best student section in college basketball. The Izzone is always locked in. Not to mention, they are very good at causing shot clock violations, with their reverse countdown clock. Not to mention those kids campout in the wind, rain and cold everyear to secure their spots. They are dedicated, sure Duke has the Cameron Crazies, but the Izzone is no joke. This list has Breslin sixth overall on the list. Which is the second highest of all Big Ten team's, as Purdue's Mackey Arena sits fourth on the list. Advertisement Allen Fieldhouse at Kansas and Cameron Indoor at Duke sit at the very top of the list. The rest of the Top 10 also includes Gonzaga's McCarthy Athletic Center, Iowa State's Hilton Coliseum, Indiana's Assembly Hall, Kentucky's Rupp Arena, Arizona's McKale Center, and BYU's Mariott Center. You honestly can't go wrong with any of them. They are all historic venues. Sure, you can make a case for plenty of others, but College Basketball Uncharted got it right. Michigan State's Tre Holloman, Xavier Booker, Gehrig Normand to enter transfer portal
Less than 36 hours after Tre Holloman sat in tears in a locker room in Atlanta, the Michigan State basketball captain will enter the transfer portal. Holloman's agents and the school confirmed the junior guard will explore leaving the Spartans after their 30-7 season and run to the Elite Eight. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Minneapolis native shared the captaincy with departing senior Jaden Akins this winter. Advertisement In MSU's season-ending 70-64 loss to Auburn on Sunday, Holloman scored just two points and was 0-for-10 from the field. That was an otherwise outlier performance in strong season in which the combo guard split point guard duties with redshirt freshman Jeremy Fears Jr. and worked along with Akins and freshman Jase Richardson in the Spartans' backcourt. He started 16 of MSU's 37 games, moving to the bench when Richardson joined the starting lineup in early February. His 3-pointer at the buzzer won the Spartans' road game at Maryland and helped deliver Tom Izzo's 11th Big Ten regular-season title with a 17-3 conference record. Advertisement College basketball scout Chris Wash also reported that wing Gehrig Normand will also enter the portal. The 6-5 Texas native played 26 minutes in 13 games as a redshirt freshman, averaging 2.0 points and going 2-for-6 from 3-point range. Norman redshirted in 2023-2024. In addition, former five-star recruit Xavier Booker also put his name into the transfer portal on Tuesday. The 6-foot-11, 240-pound Indianapolis native started the first three games of this season before being moved into a reserve role, then saw his minutes begin to dwindle as the Spartans' 30-7 season progressed. Two players left the program via transfer last season, guard A.J. Hoggard (Vanderbilt) and center Mady Sissoko (California) for their fifth and final season of eligibility. Pierre Brooks (Butler) was the last player to leave Tom Izzo's program within the four-year eligibility window. Players can enter the portal but do not necessarily have to transfer. First look at Tre Holloman with NC State Here's your first look at former Spartans guard Tre Holloman with his new team Former Spartans transfer guard Tre Holloman is trading in his green and white uniform for a red one. Holloman's departure from Michigan State became official on Sunday when he committed to NC State. Holloman entered the transfer portal shortly after the season ended, and has been working his way through the transfer process the past week before committing to NC State on Sunday. This past season Holloman averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 assists per game. He would have been a key returner for the Spartans next year had he elected to come back to East Lansing, Mich. for his senior season. Holloman was reportedly deciding between NC State, North Carolina, Baylor and Villanova. He will have one year of eligibility remaining with the Wolfpack. Ex-Michigan State guard Tre Holloman is transferring to NC State
Former Michigan State guard Tre Holloman is on his way to N.C. State. The Wolfpack shared one of Holloman's social media posts Sunday that said he had committed to the school and showed him in its gear. Another social post from Holloman announced the move using song lyrics from rapper G Herbo: 'When I was the underdog, still I put the bank on me.' Holloman averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 assists per game last season as a junior for the Spartans. He had developed into a captain under coach Tom Izzo, and was allowed by Izzo to 'kiss the floor' on senior night as a show of his commitment to the program. Holloman made national headlines on that senior night when he pushed a couple of rival Michigan Wolverines who were blocking seniors from the tradition of kissing the floor. A month later, he's on his way to N.C. State, with his Instagram on Sunday still featuring a link to clothing that profits from his shove: 'RESPECT TRADITION,' the shirts and hoodies read. Michigan State finished the season 30-7 and ranked No. 7 after an Elite Eight exit in March Madness. N.C. State finished 12-19, third to last in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The school hired Will Wade as coach after he took McNeese State to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Ex-Michigan State guard Tre Holloman commits to NC State
April 13 - Former Michigan State guard Tre Holloman has committed to North Carolina State, he announced on social media Sunday. Holloman was designated the No. 81 overall prospect and No. 12 point guard in the transfer portal according to 247's composite rankings. Despite being a captain and earning significant minutes in 2024-25, Holloman had trouble cracking the starting lineup, being awarded just 16 starts in 37 games. The 6-2 guard set career marks in minutes (23.1), points (9.1) and assists (3.7) anyway in helping the Spartans win the Big Ten and reach the Elite Eight in this spring's NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack are now helmed by former LSU and McNeese State coach Will Wade, who has been active in the transfer portal - by necessity. Seven players off of last season's roster have entered the portal, including most guard Trey Parker, who announced his departure Friday. He joined forwards Ismael Diouf and Ben Middlebrooks as well as guards Bryce Heard, Marcus Hill, Mike James and Dennis Parker Jr. Wade has brought in former McNeese State guards Alyn Breed and Quadier Copeland and received commitments from two high school players, Matthew Able and Zymicah Wilkins, who will join lone returnee Paul McNeil and Holloman in Raleigh.
