Owner ‘forgot' dog was tied to car before driving down road, CT cops say. Pup recovering

A 26-year-old was arrested after being accused of abusing his dog, Connecticut officials said. On March 3, South Windsor officers got a call from Tre Patrizz who said his dog had jumped from his car as it was moving, according to a Facebook post by the police department. But another 911 caller reported seeing the same dog, a gray pit bull, being tethered to the back of the car while Patrizz was driving, officials said. That driver said he cut off Patrizz to get him to stop dragging the dog, officers said. Patrizz eventually took the dog to the New England Veterinary Center in Windsor, where officers found him and took him into custody, officials said. That's when Patrizz told officers he 'forgot the dog was tethered' to the car, officials said. The dog suffered road rash to his underbelly and paws but will 'likely' make a full recovery after long term bandaging and pain management, officers said. The dog's owner is being held on a $10,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on March 4 on charges of animal cruelty, officials said. South Windsor is about a 10-mile drive northeast of Hartford.
