Connecticut man arrested for driving with dog tied to vehicle

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WWLP) – A man from Connecticut was arrested and faces animal cruelty charges after he allegedly forgot his dog was tied to the back of his vehicle while driving.
In a news release from the South Windsor Police Department, at around 5:56 p.m. on Monday, officers received two 911 calls, one from a witness who saw a vehicle driving on Buckland Road with his dog tethered to the back of the vehicle. The second call was from the dog's owner who stated that his dog had jumped out of his vehicle while he was driving.

The witness told police that he had to cut off the driver to get him to stop the vehicle. The dog's owner, identified as 26-year-old Tre Patrizz of Andover, took the gray pitbull to New England Veterinary Center in Windsor.
Officers located Patrizz and took him into custody. He was charged with Tethering a Dog to a Mobile Device, Cruelty to Animals and held on a $10,000 surety bond.
The dog has significant road rash to his underbelly and paws, and is expected to recover. Patrizz stated that he forgot the dog was tethered to the vehicle.

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Three men were arrested Monday following a Holyoke police 'John' sting within the city. ATV rider arrested after crashing into Holyoke police cruiser The Holyoke Police Department states that on Monday, undercover law enforcement officers posed as prostitutes during a sting operation. This operation is an effort to address quality of life issues in Holyoke. It aims to deter men from soliciting prostitution and to combat the demand for commercial sexual exploitation. At 12:30 p.m., 53-year-old Luis Lopez-Rodriguez of Chicopee drove into the area where the operation was taking place and offered the undercover officer cash for a sexual act. Lopez-Rodriguez was placed under arrest on Elm Street near the intersection of Cabot Street. At around 2:30 p.m., 52-year-old Rufus Rushins of Chicopee also drove into the area and offered the officer cash for a sexual act. He was stopped and arrested near the intersection of Appleton and Chestnut Streets. At 4:55 p.m., 80-year-old Kazem Rahmani of Amherst was stopped near the intersection of Beech and Suffolk Streets and was also arrested for offering cash to an officer for a sexual act. All three men were charged with sexual conduct for a fee. Members of the Holyoke Police Detective Bureau, Holyoke Police Narcotics/Vice Unit, Massachusetts State Police Special Services Section HRVS and VCAT, along with Hampden County SPDU, MSP Gang Unit West, and Hampden County Sheriff's Department were involved in the operation. SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy last month in Springfield appeared before a judge for a dangerousness hearing on Wednesday. Multi-vehicle crash on I-91 in Springfield The judge ruled that 53-year-old Ahmed Ahmed will be held without bail until trial. That order comes after prosecutors argued Ahmed's release would pose a threat to public safety. The Springfield Police Department stated in a news release that on Friday, May 30, officers received a report of a sexual assault. A 17-year-old boy reported to police that at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Friday, he was walking on Hancock Street and was forcibly dragged to Johnny Appleseed Park by an unknown man. The man allegedly sexually assaulted the boy, who was eventually able to escape. He reportedly ran about one mile home as the suspect chased him. Springfield Police Special Victims Unit (SVU) detectives began investigating the incident by reviewing city cameras and speaking with the victim and witnesses. On Tuesday, SVU Detectives were granted a warrant for the arrest of the suspect, Ahmed. At approximately 4:00 p.m., Ahmed was found on the 700 block of State Street and arrested. The boy's family says he is recovering at the hospital. Ahmed is scheduled to appear in court again on July 11th for a pre-trial hearing.
