Czech Embassy Launches "Treasures of Czechia" Exhibition in Cairo
H-Tayea The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, in collaboration with the Czech Centres, the National Institute of Folk Culture, and UNESCO Czech Heritage, has unveiled a new cultural exhibition titled "Treasures of Czechia", celebrating the nation's rich portfolio of UNESCO-listed tangible and intangible heritage. Set along the outer wall of the Czech Embassy on Dokki Street, the exhibition transforms the space into an open-air gallery, offering the public an accessible journey through the architectural, artistic, and folkloric gems of Czechia. The display highlights globally recognized sites and traditions, from the medieval town of Kutná Hora to Czech puppetry and the delicate craft of hand-blown glass. The official opening ceremony took place on April 2 at the Czech Embassy's Representative Hall in Cairo, where H.E. Mr. Ivan Jukl, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Egypt, welcomed guests and emphasized the cultural depth represented by the exhibition. 'Czechia's UNESCO-listed sites and traditions are a testament to our nation's deep-rooted cultural identity,' said Ambassador Jukl. 'Whether it is the architectural splendour of Kutná Hora, the unique tradition of puppetry, or the craftsmanship of hand-blown glass, these treasures hold timeless value that has earned global recognition.' Tereza Svášková, the exhibition coordinator, noted the symbolic resonance between Czech and Egyptian heritage: 'The exhibition highlights the shared commitment of both Czechia and Egypt to preserving and celebrating cultural heritage. Just as Egypt's UNESCO-listed treasures reflect millennia of civilization and artistic mastery, Czechia's heritage demonstrates the enduring spirit of our nation's craftsmanship and creativity.' The Treasures of Czechia exhibition is open to the public until July 2025, offering a rare opportunity for Egyptian audiences to engage with Czech history and artistic traditions in an immersive outdoor format. In addition to the exhibition, a cultural program will run in parallel, featuring: A workshop with Czech painter Markéta Zlesáková, whose art fuses Arabic decorative motifs and calligraphy with European techniques, reflecting a unique blend of cultural influences. A heritage conservation workshop with Miroslav Houska, a leading Czech expert in monument preservation, with experience restoring sites across Czechia, Iraq, Syria, and other UNESCO-listed locations. Guided exhibition tours, with dates to be announced soon. The exhibition is part of ongoing efforts to deepen cultural diplomacy and strengthen ties between Egypt and the Czech Republic, highlighting mutual respect for history, artistry, and the preservation of cultural identity. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Videos & Features Bouchra Dahlab Crowned Miss Arab World 2025 .. This exhibition sees a curated assortment of works under the unifying theme of zikr (remembrance), the form of worship in reverent remembrance of God performed and recited repeatedly in submission to his grace and mercy. The act of remembrance is most notably associated with the Sufi rite, and often involves a specific posture, breathing and movement accompanied by recurrent utterances of the various names of God and supplications from the Islamic scriptures.
