Tregothnan open day raises £65,000 for women's charity
A private garden in Cornwall opened its gates and raised £65,000 for a charity that supports women and than 4,000 people visited Tregothnan's open garden weekend near Truro on 26 and 27 money was given to The Women's Centre Cornwall, which supports woman and children living with the impact of domestic and sexual charity's chief executive gave her "heartfelt thanks" to the private estate's team for the "extraordinary gift" which she said could help it "kickstart an exciting new initiative". 'Always a delight' Tregothnan is known to be the first place in the UK to grow tea commercially and has been home to the Boscawen family since year it hosts an open weekend during which members of the public can explore the Jones, managing director of trading at Tregothnan, said: "It is always a delight to open our gates and see the estate thronged with visitors – especially when it is in aid of such a deserving charity."He thanked people for visiting and helping the charity which he said had "an incredible impact on the lives of so many".

Tokyo woman flies to UK to enter pasty crimping competition
A woman from Tokyo has flown to Cornwall to compete in the first-ever World's Fastest Crimper competition for Shigyo arrived in Truro on Friday afternoon and said she hoped her entry would encourage "further exchanges" between the UK and event will be held in Newquay at the Great Cornish Food Store from 10:00 GMT on Saturday. Ms Shigyo and her fellow entrants will be tasked with crimping three pasties against the clock, which will then be judged to determine the winner. Discussing the event, she said: "I want to tell the world that there is a lot of delicious food in the UK."Ahead of the competition, Ms Shigyo was given a tour of the gardens at tea manufacturer Tregothnan in Tresillian.
