Thief jailed for stealing £23k of shoes from lorry

A man has been jailed after admitting stealing shoes worth nearly £23,000 from a lorry near Gillingham. Michael Tremarco, of St Agnes Drive in Canvey Island, Essex, previously pleaded guilty to theft, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Kent Police charged the 35-year-old in April after a lorry was stopped in London following a report of the theft at a service station on the M2 in Kent. Tremarco received a 21-month prison sentence and six points on his driving licence at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday. According to Kent Police, a security guard reported suspicious activity near parked vehicles at the service station in the early hours of 11 April. A lorry was targeted while the driver was asleep in the cab, the force said. Officers later seized boxes of shoes after a different lorry was stopped in Stratford. Ross County chief fears 'wider problem' creeping into Scottish football after Livingston fan spits at staff

Boss Don Cowie made the claim following penalty controversy at the end of the Premiership playoff first leg Ross County chief executive Steven Ferguson fears there is an unwanted fan culture creeping back into Scottish football. The Staggies supremo was talking after his assistant manager, Carl Tremarco, was spat at after their injury-time leveller at Livingston. ‌ It came just days after Aberdeen defender Jack MacKenzie was hit by a chair and various missiles were thrown in the last Rangers v Celtic game. ‌ Ferguson acknowledged: 'I think, like you said, that's a wider problem. 'My concern and my duty here is always to our team and our staff. 'The fact that one of our members of staff was spat in the face is disappointing. 'But like you said, there seems to be a bit of culture keeping back into the game.' Ferguson admitted what Tremarco had to endure at Set Fare Arena is totally unacceptable. 'The line was crossed when that happened,' Ferguson added. ‌ 'Obviously, there's been a reaction at the dugout and it was pretty clear for everybody that Livingston supporters spat in the face of one of our staff. 'You've got two teams that have got a lot at stake on fighting it out on the pitch. 'I get the emotion bit, but we as a football club cannot accept somebody spitting in the face of one of our staff. ‌ 'For me, that doesn't belong in football and doesn't belong anywhere, so, we're disappointed in that. 'But what I will say is, Livingston were excellent and very quick to react.' ‌ The County staff have all rallied around Tremarco. Ferguson admitted:'He's cleaned himself up and he's obviously disappointed, but he'll be absolutely fine. 'Carl certainly wasn't expecting that. There were words exchanged which we all saw. 'Again, I'll state the emotions are high. Their team has conceded a penalty kick in the last seconds of the game, so I totally understand that. ‌ 'We can understand the emotion, but I think that's definitely crossed the line.' Ferguson admitted the culprit has been identified. He confirmed: 'I believe the person's been identified and it's out with my hands now. 'The people that need to know about it do know about it. 'Nobody wants to see that. For that to happen at the end is just unacceptable.'

Adolescence star suffers wardrobe malfunction on BBC Breakfast: ‘Things go wrong!'

Adolescence star Christine Tremarco was assisted by BBC Breakfast host Charlie Stayt after suffering a funny wardrobe malfunction during her live interview. Tremarco stars alongside Stephen Graham in the four-part drama, which has become Netflix 's most successful limited series of all time since its release earlier this month. In it, she plays the mother of Jamie Miller (newcomer Owen Cooper), who is arrested for murdering a fellow student at his school. On Friday (28 March), the actor was discussing the impact of the show, as well as the filming technique of each episode being one long continuous take, on the BBC morning show. As she broke down the unpredictability of filming the show in such a way, revealing how things went 'wrong', Tremarco's ring went flying off her finger. 'Things happened in episode one. the lights went out in the studio,' she said as the ring landed loudly on the table in front of her. 'I think that was my ring,' she said, with co-host Nina Warhurst emphasising her point that 'things go wrong'. Tremarco continued: 'The lights went out in the studio and it was in the interview scenes but the cast just carried on. But then it had to cut because the lights had gone out but they just sort of improvised around the lights going off again. ''Or a door was shut once in episode four when a camera was coming through and the door was meant to be a bit open – things like that.' At the end of the interview, Stayt located Tremarco's ring and gave it back to her. 'Nice to see you here this morning, thank you very much,' he said, adding: 'Shall I just recover your – shall I just get that for you? Throwing your arms around so much, that's what happens. Anything can happen!' Shot in one-take, each episode of Adolescence follows characters in real-time as they attempt to get to the bottom of the incident. Exploring topical issues including incel culture, misogyny and the online 'manosphere', Graham, who co-created and wrote the show, was inspired by news reports of stabbings of young girls. 'I read an article about a young boy stabbing a young girl,' the actor told The Independent. 'And then maybe a couple of months later, on the news there was [another] young boy who'd stabbed a young girl, and if I'm really honest with you, they hurt my heart.' He explained that the storyline explores a complexity of topics and that parents need to be 'mindful' of the external influences working on their children. 'It's just being mindful of the fact that not only we parent our children, and not only the school educates our children,' he said. 'But also there's influences that we have no idea of that are having profound effects on our young culture, profound effects, positive and extremely negative. So it's having a look at that and seeing that we're all accountable.'
