Moment Tube driver is caught KNITTING and watching videos on his phone while driving commuters

An easy-going tube driver was caught knitting and watching videos on his phone as he drove commuters around one of the busiest transport networks in the world. Striking footage shows the London Underground operative hard at work on a lion-themed garment as he pulls slowly out of Hendon Central Station in February 2025. The man's phone is also positioned comfortably in front of him so he can watch videos at his leisure. A witness who filmed the spectacle - which took place on a Northern Line train - commented disapprovingly, 'look at him... watching TV, pressing a couple of buttons'. He went on to reference the money the driver earns each year and claimed he can go on strike 'whenever he wants'. The witness later recalled: 'I was so surprised. 'I didn't expect to see someone meant to be at work being so casual about the job. 'Especially because at the time, there were tube strikes going on so it felt mad they were complaining about the job then relaxing on it. The man's phone is also positioned comfortably in front of him so he can watch videos at his leisure 'And, although I don't know how automatic the system is for the tubes, I remember thinking that this person has the passengers' lives in their hands. 'It felt crazy that this driver wouldn't take that more seriously.' Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed the driver in the video was sacked from his job. A spokesman said: 'This video was made earlier in the year. 'We carried out a full investigation and the person involved no longer works at TfL.' Many social media users have taken to TikTok to share their thoughts on the video. One person said: 'He's risking his career for a bit of TV.' Another added: 'The driver shouldn't be doing that, they should be focussing - that's dangerous.' But a number of people offered their support to the tube worker amid the criticism. Someone said: 'What do you want him to be doing? Steering?'

Cannabis changed me, claims 'sword killer who hacked boy aged 14 to death after hallucinating that his cat was causing "Armageddon"', court hears

A drug-crazed killer launched a samurai sword rampage hacking a 14-year-old boy to death after hallucinating that his cat was causing 'Armageddon', a court heard yesterday. Marcus Monzo, 37, admitted that he had been using cannabis 'extensively' which had changed his personality and caused a mental health decline. In the grip of a cannabis-induced 'psychotic disorder', the Brazilian is said to have strangled, skinned and deboned his cat, Wizard, before attempting to eat it. Minutes later, Monzo is alleged to have set off with the animal's remains on a baking tray, a number of swords and a ball-bearing gun on a mission to kill, shouting 'does anyone believe in God'. Yesterday Monzo claimed he could not remember killing Daniel Anjorin, 14, as he was walking to school. Nor could he remember ramming a pedestrian with his van or charging into a nearby house and attacking a terrified couple in their bedroom in front of their four-year-old child during the 20-minute rampage in Hainault, east London, on April 30 last year. Yesterday Monzo told the Old Bailey that he had been consumed by 'paranoia and anxiety'. Monzo claimed he stopped smoking cannabis in 2015 because it changed his personality, but he started using cannabis daily again in 2023. But he denied smoking cannabis on the day. In the days before the attack, Monzo said: 'I believed the cat was being used against me and I started receiving guidance, communication... telling me to kill the cat.' He tried to cook Wizard, but he became 'panicked and rushed', believing an event 'like an Armageddon' was occurring. Monzo wept while giving evidence saying he did not intend to harm anybody, adding: 'My memory after I left my home... gradually it becomes very vague and abstract... not very clear.' Monzo denies murder, attempted murder, aggravated burglary by entering a property with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, wounding with intent and having an article with a blade or point, namely a kitchen knife. The trial continues.

Man charged over 'threat to behead' protester who set Koran alight outside Turkish consulate

A man who allegedly threatened to behead a protester who set a Koran alight has been remanded in custody. Muhammad Naasir Attaari, 49, was charged with threatening to kill Hamit Coskun after he burned the Muslim holy book outside the Turkish consulate in London on February 13. He is accused of telling an Asda employee that he would behead Coskun and he was later arrested after the staff member reported him to the police, according to the Daily Telegraph. Mr Attaari, originally from Blackburn, Lancashire, appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court, wearing a white cap and a black hoodie and entered no pleas. He is also charged with three counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place. 'With regard to the threats to kill, it has taken place at an Asda store,' Prosecutor Rizwan Amin told the court. 'A member of staff approached him and interacted with this defendant. 'On one particular occasion, there was dialogue between both parties, in particular that someone had burned a Koran, the holy book.' District Judge John Zani told him: 'You face a number of serious offences too serious to be dealt with in this court.' He was remanded in custody and his case was sent to Isleworth Crown Court where he will appear on July 10. Coskun, 50, was convicted of a religiously aggravated public order offence earlier this month in Westminster Magistrates' Court after setting fire to a copy of the Koran. He shouted 'f*** Islam', 'Islam is religion of terrorism' and 'Koran is burning' while holding the flaming Islamic text above his head, and was ordered to pay £240 as a result of his conviction. He was found guilty of a public order offence motivated by 'hostility towards members of a religious group, namely followers of Islam'. Coskun was also convicted of using disorderly conduct 'within the hearing or sight of a person likely to have caused harassment, alarm or distress', contrary to the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986.
