Springfield police investigating homicide in North End

SPRINGFIELD – A man was shot and killed in the North End section of the city late Saturday night. Police responding to a report of a gunshot victim on Main Street discovered the wounded man. He was brought to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance and later died from his injuries, said Ryan Walsh, a police spokesman. The shooting took place at about 11:20 p.m. near 2700 Main St. between the intersections of Huntington and Sheldon streets, he said. The crime is being investigated by the department's Homicide Unit under the direction of Capt. Trent Duda, Walsh said. Anyone with information or video of the shooting is asked to contact Springfield detectives at 413-787-6355. People can also anonymously send information through the text-a-tip system by dialing CRIMES (2-7-4-6-3-7) and then start the message with SOLVE followed by the tip. SPRINGFIELD — A double shooting in a Forest Park neighborhood apartment Friday resulted in the second homicide in two days in the city. Police responded to reports of a shooting in an apartment on Orange Street at about 10:30 p.m. Friday and found two men had been struck by gunfire, said Ryan Walsh, police spokesman. One victim suffered serious wounds and died Sunday. The second is recovering from injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Walsh said. Both were taken to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance Friday night and treated there, he said. The shooting took place near 200 Orange St., close to Malden Street. The day after, another man was shot and killed at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, near 2700 Main St. in the North End section of the city. The victim was brought to Baystate Medical Center, where he died, Walsh said. The crimes are under investigation by the Springfield Police Department's Homicide Unit under the direction of Capt. Trent Duda in conjunction with the Murder Unit at Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni's Office, he said. Anyone who has information or video of the area at the time of the shootings is asked to contact Springfield detectives at 413-787-6355. SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The identity of the man that was shot and killed on Orange Street in Springfield on Friday has been identified. Eight people lose home after fire on Carver Street in Springfield The Hampden District Attorney's Office states that at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Friday, officers received a ShotSpotter activation on the 100 block of Orange Street. When police arrived at the location, a man was found inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. The victim was brought to Baystate Medical Center and he passed away at the hospital. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Aubrey Wyatt of Springfield. The shooting remains an ongoing investigation by the Springfield Police Department Homicide Unit under the direction of Captain Trent Duda in conjunction with the Hampden District Attorney's Murder Unit.
