West Virginia commit Treysen Eaglestaff withdraws from 2025 NBA draft
West Virginia commit Treysen Eaglestaff withdraws from 2025 NBA draft North Dakota junior transfer Treysen Eaglestaff will reportedly withdraw from the 2025 NBA draft and return to school next season, according to Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68. Eaglestaff was named to the All-Summit League second team this past season, averaging 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals on 35.9% shooting from 3-point range. He ranked second in the conference in points (623) and third in 3s (84). The 6-foot-6 guard set a Summit League tournament record with 51 points on March 7 in a win over South Dakota State. He was the first player to score at least 50 points in a game since Houston Baptist guard Darius Lee had 52 points on March 5, 2022. Eaglestaff entered the transfer portal last month while also declaring for the draft. He was among the 106 players who filed as early entry candidates for the draft and attended one team workout with the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this month. He initially committed to South Carolina after a brief time in the portal. He eventually changed course and opted to play for new coach Ross Hodge and West Virginia after three years with the Fighting Hawks, a pact that was announced on April 22. Eaglestaff will now be able to move to the Big 12 and continue his career. He projects to be a key addition for the Mountaineers as they begin a new era under Hodge.

Top College Basketball Transfer Makes Decision After Decommitting From SEC Program
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks didn't exactly fly high this past season. They finished a dismal 12-21, and they obviously have plenty of work to do in order to qualify for the men's NCAA Tournament next spring. Their road to an NCAA postseason berth just got steeper. Guard Treysen Eaglestaff, their leading scorer this past season, has committed to play for West Virginia next season. Advertisement He will be joining a West Virginia Mountaineers team that went 19-13 and didn't reach the NCAA Tournament last season. The Mountaineers had trouble putting points up on the board, and Eaglestaff should help rectify that problem. Before committing to West Virginia, Eaglestaff was a South Carolina pledge. He quickly retracted from that transfer portal decision and ultimately chose to continue his college basketball career with the Mountaineers. Eaglestaff, who has spent all three of his seasons in the NCAA with North Dakota this far, averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals a game during the 2024-25 campaign. Advertisement He exploded for 51 points and hit eight 3-pointers in a win over San Diego State during the semifinal round of the Summit League playoffs last month. North Dakota Fighting Hawks guard Treysen Eaglestaff (52). Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images He isn't a consistently deadly 3-point shooter, but overall, he's a potent scorer, and at 6-foot-6, he's a tough cover. Perhaps playing on a team where he will have more offensive support will help him lift his shooting efficiency. He shot a decent 35.9% from 3-point range but only made 41.6% of his overall shot attempts last season. West Virginia has Javon Small, a guard who put up 18.6 points and 5.6 assists a game last season. It also obtained guard Chance Moore and forward Brenen Lorient from the transfer portal, and both men should add some punch to its anemic offense. Kentucky contacts Treysen Eaglestaff, who scored 40 points vs. Alabama and 51 in another game
Kentucky contacts Treysen Eaglestaff, who scored 40 points vs. Alabama and 51 in another game Matt Cashore-Imagn Images One of the hottest names in the college basketball transfer portal is drawing interest from the Kentucky Wildcats. North Dakota guard Treysen Eaglestaff will be transferring, and according to Joe Tipton of On3, Kentucky is showing interest in the high-scoring standout. Advertisement Alabama, Michigan, St. John's, Kansas, LSU, Gonzaga, UCLA, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Oklahoma are among the many other schools that've expressed interest. Eaglestaff is also expected to test the NBA Draft waters. KSR's Jacob Polacheck previously reported that Kentucky was expected to show interest. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Eaglestaff averaged 18.9 points (35.9% from deep), 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Eaglestaff first turned heads back in December when North Dakota hosted Alabama and North Dakota native Grant Nelson. Eaglestaff had 40 on the Crimson Tide, and the Hawks came this close to pulling the upset of the season on the top-five Tide. Advertisement He also scored 51 in a Summit League Conference Tournament win over South Dakota State. There will be competition, obviously, for Eaglestaff as he will be one of the most coveted scorers to enter the portal this offseason, and with Alabama getting a first-hand look at him, you have to think Nate Oats and the Tide will be players in his recruitment.
