Bachman-Turner Overdrive extends 2025 tour, adds NY show. Get tickets

The classic rockers just added eight fall shows to their ongoing 2025 'Roll On Down The Highway Tour' including October gigs in both New Jersey and New York. Those Tri-state concerts go down at Englewood, NJ's Bergen Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Oct. 29, Atlantic City, NJ's Borgata Casino Event Center on Friday, Oct. 31 and North Tonawanda, NY's Riviera Theatre on Monday, Nov. 3. Prior to these newly-added autumn gigs, the group that brought the world 'Takin' Care of Business' and 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet' co-headline a run of summer gigs with Marshall Tucker Band and either Jefferson Starship or The Outlaws. They also have a handful of solo headlining gigs and a one-off with Blue Öyster Cult and Foghat lined up over the next few months as well. 'We're playing all the hits, as well as diving deep into the album cuts,' Bachman said in an official statement. '…the response from fans has been incredible.' In addition to all of the staples you know and love, it's also likely Bachman and co. will play their recently-released, nostalgia-tinged single '60 Years Ago.' The song is the band's first new release since 1996 when they put out a Europe-only cover of 'The House of the Rising Sun.' Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming Bachman-Turner Overdrive shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for their co-headlining tour is Friday, June 13. The nearly four-minute barroom rocker — appropriately dubbed '60 Years Ago' — name checks Canadian rock heroes Burton Cummings, Buffalo Springfield, The Guess Who and more. As an added bonus, the raucous ditty features a scorching guitar solo courtesy of The Godfather of Grunge himself, Mr. Neil Young. The song may be a last gasp for the aging rockers but also serves as proof positive that they still have gas left in the tank. 'One night I'm driving to a gig in Vancouver and a guy comes on the radio station. He says 'Hi, this is Daryl B and we're taking care of business,'' the 81-year-old told us about how the iconic tune came to be. Bachman wrote the title down and made the band play the song on the spot — unprepared and unrehearsed (!) — that night. On Today's Date: The 1925 Tri-State Tornado, America's Worst
It's the 100th anniversary of what is widely considered America's worst single tornado, which predated much of the technology we depend on today for severe weather forecasting and warnings. On March 18, 1925, an outbreak of severe thunderstorms spawned the deadliest tornado in U.S. history. The so-called Tri-State tornado claimed 695 lives from southeast Missouri into southern Illinois and southwest Indiana. That death toll was double that of the next deadliest U.S. tornado from May 7, 1840 in Natchez, Mississippi (317 deaths). Of those, 234 deaths were in Murphysboro, Illinois, the single greatest tornado death toll in any U.S. city. Thirty-three other deaths occurred at a school in De Soto, Illinois. At least 19 separate communities were affected. Gorham, Illinois, and Griffin, Indiana, were totally destroyed. Ninety percent of Annapolis, Missouri, and Parrish, Illinois, were destroyed. Parrish was never rebuilt, becoming, in essence, a tornadic "ghost town." An estimated 15,000 homes were demolished. One lingering question over the years was whether this was indeed a single tornado, or a family of tornadoes with gaps in between. A comprehensive 2013 study combining interviews, photos and news articles found the Tri-state tornado was at least 151 miles long from Bollinger County, Missouri, to Pike County, Indiana. The culprit appears to have been a single classic, then high-precipitation long-track supercell possibly near a warm-front/dryline intersection, according to the study. Remaining in a favorable environment, the Tri-State tornado continued for 3.5 hours, with an average width of three-quarters of a mile, and an average forward speed of 62 mph. In an era without television, watches or warnings, news traveled by word of mouth or from the local newspaper, an especially frightening thought given the speed of movement of this historic tornado. Hopkins County student show off new health clinic
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Tri-state students are in San Antonio, Texas at the American Farm Bureau Convention where they are showing off a new project aiming to help people across the world. FFA and AG students at Madisonville North Hopkins High School have been working to convert a 40-foot long shipping container into a health clinic. We're told the clinic is being sent to Liberia to give healthcare access to thousands of people. Students say it's been a great experience to show off their project while at the convention.
