Andy Byron's 'daughter' has gone viral on TikTok after Coldplay Kiss Cam video
We've all seen it: the seconds-long clip of former Astronomer CEO, Andy Byron, getting close with the company's HR specialist, Kristin Cabot, at a Coldplay concert – and the pair looking utterly horrified when they realise they've been spotlit by the stadium's Kiss Cam (and the band's lead singer, Chris Martin, who quips, "Either they're having an affair or they're just really shy."
Sadly, the former transpired to be true, and Astronomer has since told Cosmopolitan UK that Byron has stepped down from his position in the company.
Elsewhere online, fake viral apologies allegedly from Andy Byron have been doing the rounds, along with a manufactured statement from his wife, Megan.
Now, adding to the furore and wow-the-internet-sucks energy of the whole thing, a TikToker known as @ThatMarinagirll, has been posing online as Byron's daughter, creating a string of videos about how seeing her 'father's' infidelity play out on a such a big screen has caused her to head off on a soul-searching trip.
In one trip, a young woman is seen by an outdoor fire along with the caption "reconnecting with life after your dad's affair makes national news".
A further upload posted screenshots, seemingly of Marina and her friends discussing the Coldplay scandal, with one writing, "I thought it was your dad's doppelganger" as Marina replies "I saw it early this morning … Lord help us".
However, throwing a major spanner in the credibility works, the account later shared a fourth video which was seemingly an advertisement for a company called along with the words: "Thanks for the $35 flight, I'm basically healed"
The account, which has over 195,000 followers, has since reverted to private. It's believed (albeit unconfirmed) that Byron and his wife, Megan, do not actually have a daughter but instead are the parents of two sons.
So... it pretty much looks like this TikTok user and/or the travel company decided to tap into the online drama and weaponise a very real and sad situation for the actual families involved. As far as we know, neither of the Byrons or Cabot have made a public statement on the incident.
Anyone else thinking Marina's account will now likely repurpose itself and continue to profit from the followers it amassed under false pretences?
